We aim to be able to donate capes to children who have been diagnosed with cancer, to help them feel like a warrior while battling such a terrible disease.

A cape can’t change a diagnosis. But it can carry a message: you are loved, supported, and not facing this alone. 💛

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminded that supporting children facing cancer can take many forms. Sometimes, it’s something a child can wrap around their shoulders—a reminder of Strength, Courage, Hope, and Faith.

This is Jackson’s brother, Parker, wearing the Courage cape after Jackson approved the designs. Knowing Jackson had a say in those designs makes these capes even more meaningful.

Through the Jackson Scott Bates Foundation, each superhero cape represents those values and continues Jackson’s kindness and desire to help others.

Children facing childhood cancer are children first. 💛

Cancer was part of Jackson’s story, but it was never the whole story.

Jackson brought joy and imagination to everyday life. He loved dressing up and pretending, whether he was putting on a performance, dancing, or getting lost in a game. He loved his brother deeply, and his natural kindness showed in the way he was always ready to help someone else.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the gold ribbon reminds us to raise awareness, but also to see the whole child and the life they lived beyond their diagnosis.

We talk a lot about heroes around here. 💙

Sometimes they wear capes, but most of the time, they don't.

A hero can be the child who faces another treatment with a courage most adults can't imagine. It can be the parent who somehow finds the strength to keep going on the hardest days. It can be the sibling who makes their brother or sister laugh when they need it most, or the friend who simply shows up and stays.

Heroes are all around us, and they don't always realize just how extraordinary they are.

Happy 18th Birthday, Jackson! 💙🎉

Today is all about celebrating you.

Your smile, your personality, your love of acting and dancing, and that ability you had to bring so much fun and laughter wherever you went. But as much as we remember those things, we also remember just how big your heart was.

You loved your family and your friends fiercely. You were generous, you cared about people, and you genuinely wanted to help others. Making someone else happy made you happy, and that’s one of the many things that made you so incredibly special.

There are so many memories that still make us smile, stories that still get told, and moments that will forever have your name written all over them.

Today you would be 18, and that definitely calls for a celebration. So today we’re choosing to celebrate everything that made you, you. The laughter, the kindness, the big heart, the love you gave so freely, and all the joy you brought into our lives.

Happy 18th birthday, Jackson. You are loved, you are celebrated, and you are always worth throwing a party for. 💙🎂

August is often filled with new beginnings. Families are getting ready for a new school year, settling back into routines, and making the most of the last days of summer.

For some families, though, this season looks very different. Instead of shopping for school supplies or planning weekend adventures, they're spending time in hospitals, at doctor's appointments, or preparing for another round of treatment.

That's why the Jackson Scott Bates Foundation exists.

Through superhero capes and personalized shirts, we have the privilege of reminding children that they are so much more than the battle they're facing. A cape may seem like a simple gift, but it can help a child feel brave, strong, and seen during one of the hardest times in their life.

Every donation helps us continue creating capes and shirts that remind children they are never fighting alone. Together, we can help more young heroes wear their courage.

Every once in a while, someone asks me how we keep Jackson's legacy alive.

The answer is actually pretty simple.

We talk about him.

We tell stories.

We laugh about the funny moments.

We share the things that made him who he was.

Because when someone has made such a lasting impact on your life, you don't stop talking about them. You find comfort in remembering them, and you hope that by sharing those memories, others get to know them too.

That's what this foundation has always meant to me.

Yes, we provide superhero capes to children facing life-altering illnesses.

Yes, we work to bring hope to families during incredibly difficult times.

But it's also a place where Jackson's kindness, joy, and spirit continue to live on.

Every story shared...
Every cape given...
Every child reminded they're brave...

It's another way his legacy continues to make a difference.

One of my favorite things is hearing people talk about the good things happening around them.

It seems like most days we're surrounded by headlines, stress, and all the things that demand our attention. It's easy to forget that there are good things happening too.

A child reaches a milestone they've worked hard for.

A family gets news they've been hoping to hear.

Someone experiences an unexpected act of kindness.

A goal is achieved. A challenge is overcome. A reason to celebrate appears when it's needed most.

Those moments matter.

They remind us that even when life feels heavy, hope is still out there. Sometimes it's found in the biggest victories, and sometimes it's hidden in the smallest moments that make us smile.

Jackson was always looking for ways to make someone else's day a little better. He was generous, thoughtful, and quick to help whenever he could. Whether it was sharing something he had, making someone laugh, or simply showing kindness, it came naturally to him.

In many ways, that's what this foundation is all about. Finding opportunities to encourage others, spread a little hope, and remind people that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.
