🎸 MEMORIES MADE | One Last Memory from Jaime
In November of 2015, Angelo and I went to see The Toadies .
The concert was great, we rocked out, and on top of that, the staff at The Factory made us feel even more welcome by getting us the opportunity to meet the band. We hung out with the drummer and bass guitar player for a bit, shooting the breeze, and even got each a white guitar pick.
Fast forward to New Years Eve 2019. This would be my first concert without Angelo, and I don't think I had ever felt so alone as i did in that moment, thinking I'd have to experience these events without my brother at my side. I went to see the Toadies, to honor his memory, and keep trying to take in experiences that just made the world a better place. Midway through the set a guitar pick goes flying past my head. I reached out, didn't grab it, but something told me to look down directly at my feet. And what do you know, it was as black guitar pick. As if someone brought it back around, just for me to grab it.
I knew at that moment, it was Angelo. He worked his Angelo magic to help make that experience one I would never forget. In that moment, grief turned into a sense of relief, that even though Angelo was now with us forever in spirit, he still had a way of bringing joy and smiles to those that loved him. I now have two matching guitar picks, as if one was destined to be a sign from beyond that everything was going to be ok, and that we just had to keep on pressing, because as Angelo always said "it's the little things in life that matter, why not just have a good time?"
That’s what we try to do at 4 The Guy Foundation.
As North Texas Giving Day comes to a close, I wanted to share one last memory. One last reminder of what this is all about.
If you’ve been moved today, if Angelo’s story has stayed with you — help us make more moments like this possible.
