What if an old controller sitting in a closet could help launch a future DJ?

At Spin the Spectrum, we’re building standardized DJ kits for autistic and neurodivergent students across the country through our Virtual DJ Lab. Every controller, laptop, pair of headphones, software license, and sponsorship helps create access to opportunities that might not otherwise exist.

We’ve seen students discover confidence, build skills, perform for audiences, and develop a sense of identity through music. Now we’re working to make those opportunities available to even more students, regardless of where they live.

We’ve been building something we believe the autistic and neurodivergent community truly deserves.

Spin the Spectrum is officially launching our new Virtual DJ Class Pilot Program for autistic and neurodivergent people of all ages and all levels across the United States.

This is not just another online music class.

This program was specifically designed for autistic and neurodivergent learners who connect through rhythm, repetition, creativity, music, technology, pattern recognition, and sound.

Using our SAMM Framework, students receive:
🎧 Real DJ instruction
🧠 Neurodiversity affirming supports
🎚️ Multisensory teaching strategies
💬 AAC supports when needed

Some people communicate through conversation.

What if learning to DJ was finally taught in a way that actually honored how neurodivergent people learn? ∞

Spin the Spectrum is officially launching our Virtual DJ Lab pilot program using our SAMM Framework (Structured Auditory Motor Mixing), a multisensory and neurodiversity-affirming approach designed specifically for neurodivergent learners.

This is not a typical online music class.

Students learn through:
∞ Pattern-based instruction
∞ Music and rhythm
∞ Visual and tactile supports
∞ AAC integration when needed
∞ Real-world DJ skill development
∞ Structured supports that build toward actual performances

Our goal is not just to teach “music lessons.” Our goal is to help neurodivergent individuals build confidence, creative expression, independence, and meaningful participation through DJing.

This pilot is ideal for neurodivergent individuals who love music, enjoy technology, benefit from structured and strengths-based learning approaches, and want to explore creative expression and performance opportunities in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Participants in the pilot will receive discounted introductory pricing while helping us refine and expand the program nationally.

Please note:
All participants must use the required standardized equipment setup to ensure consistency and accessibility within the SAMM Framework. A buyback option for eligible equipment will also be available to help reduce financial risk for families.

Spots will be very limited for this first pilot cohort.

If you’ve ever seen Mr. Jay DJ… this is going to hit immediately 😂 Makai studied the whole vibe and gave us his version and honestly it’s a little too accurate. The stance, the focus, the energy… all of it.

These are the moments we love. Joy, connection, and kids feeling comfortable enough to observe, interpret, and make it their own in the most hilarious way possible.

When inclusion feels this powerful, joy becomes the loudest thing in the room 🔊✨ Last night at the National Autistic Association of North Texas awards ceremony, DJ Sam C stepped into his first official gig and created something none of us will ever forget 🎧 Sam has been working with us since 2021, and what we witnessed was the culmination of years of trust, growth, and belief coming together in one moment 🙌 He looked out at the crowd, saw people moving with him, celebrating with him, and you could feel it shift 💫 This was not just a performance. This was what real inclusion looks like when it is done right 🤍 It was connection, it was belonging, it was the kind of moment that changes what people believe is possible 🌍 We are so grateful to the National Autistic Association of North Texas for trusting Sam with that stage and for creating a space where this kind of moment could happen 🙏 And to Sam, who showed everyone in that room exactly what happens when opportunity meets support, we are endlessly proud 🥹 If you have ever wondered what true inclusion looks like, this is it.
