Brighter Magazine

Brighter Magazine Our mission is to benefit the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of women affected by any cancer.

We accomplish our mission through our one of a kind publication and our programs that educate, encourage, equip and empower women. The moment a woman is diagnosed with cancer, the way she looks at everything in life changes. What once were simple pleasures become complicated. Whether a new personal diagnosis, amidst a series of treatments, or in remission, Brighter magazine strives to be the resou

rce for beauty, health and relationship advice for each of these women. Our goal is to help you feel empowered, equipped and enthusiastic about your live during these critical times.

May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, and something that some bladder cancer survivors experience due to removal of or damage to the bladder is a urostomy. We want to normalize urostomies, shed light on the realities of them, and remind survivors that there is so much hope. Life can be beautiful, fulfilling, and exciting even if your body has been physically changed after treatment.

Meet Erika, one of our amazing 2026 Ambassadors! Erika is glioblastoma survivor advocating for greater awareness of the symptoms that accompany brain tumors, as they can often be overlooked. Throughout the course of this year, Erika will be sharing advice, resources, and her personal experiences to raise awareness and to help other women feel seen. We are honored to be partnering with Erika in her mission this year!

To stay connected with Erika, follow her at Erika Butler for more!

Our second Ambassador box is here! Our Ambassadors got their boxes a couple weeks ago and have been loving all the products and resources!

AnaOno donated a hand-picked post-treatment or post-surgery friendly bra to each of our Ambassadors.

The Baylor Scott and White Arts and Medicine Program donated calming jar kits with instructions, so our Ambassadors are getting creative, constructing their own, and finding a place for mindfulness in their routines.

The Ricardo Fisas Foundation donated Diamond Luminous Sunscreen to help our Ambassadors stay skin-safe this summer!

Headbands of Hope donated two fashionable and fun headbands to bring some color and joy to each day!

MyRealStick donated ironic, honest, and often humorous stickers that speak to survivors' experiences while navigating life.

We are so grateful for our amazing partners this quarter and the resources, products, joy, and hope that they are providing to survivors within the Ambassador Program and beyond!

“I kind of questioned [my faith] at one point when I was first diagnosed…but then I realized that He has a purpose for everyone, and even though it’s a really bad thing, I feel like I grew as a person and I’ve been able to evolve and learn stuff that I don’t think I would have if not for me being diagnosed.”

Cancer can challenge your worldview, your faith, and who you are as a person. This was true for Ava, one of the features of our spring issue, but amidst that questioning, she came to realize that she could reframe her pain and her obstacles, seeing instead the opportunities for growth and connection that accompanied cancer.

Strength doesn’t look like ignoring the pain, it is often acknowledging it and continuing to see the good.
