DFWTKF is a local DFW social connection and advocacy page for trans kids and their families. Worth Metroplex.

DFW Trans Kids & Families began in a small therapist's office as a few families came together in 2015, to support their transgender or gender expansive children of all ages among the Dallas -
Ft. We try to connect parents with necessary resources to help supoort their child whether they are a minor or adult.

Mexico had a third gender before colonizers arrived. They are called Muxes. Zapotec Oaxaca. Respected for 1000s years.
Before Spanish. Before Catholic Church. Before binary.
Zapotec people of Juchitán, Oaxaca recognized 3 genders:
Men
Women
Muxes
Muxes (pronounced moo-shes) — from Spanish “mujer” — individuals assigned male at birth who embrace feminine roles, dress in stunning Tehuana huipils, embroidered flowers, gold jewelry, do traditional female roles — but as Muxes, not women. Their own gender.
Not tolerated. Revered. Considered blessed with special spiritual powers, bridges between worlds. Artists, embroiderers, organizers of velas, keepers of language.
Zapotec language has no grammatical genders. No “el / la” forcing you to choose. Muxe elder: “Muxes have never been forced to wonder: are they more man or woman?”
Annual Vela de las Muxes — biggest LGBTQ+ Indigenous festival in Latin America — Juchitán, November.
They say third gender is new. Zapotecs had it for thousands of years.
