Tonight, we served more than dinner. We served care, dignity, and a reminder that no one should feel forgotten. ❤️

Our guests at Beacon of Hope were welcomed with a warm from-scratch spinach, potato & roasted pepper frittata, fresh salads with crisp vegetables and toppings, and house-made oat bars for dessert. Every ingredient was prepared with intention. Every plate was served with compassion.

At the Opal & Oak Foundation, we believe people deserve meals made with the same love and hospitality we would give in our own homes — regardless of their circumstances. Food has the power to comfort, restore, and remind someone that they are seen.

For many, this may have simply looked like dinner.
For us, and for those we serve, it was a moment of warmth, humanity, and hope.

We’re honored to share that our Founder & President, Harrison Tille, will be attending the Iowa Hunger Summit this year.

In addition to attending the summit, Harrison will also be helping with meal packing in support of communities facing food insecurity across Iowa.

In a state that helps feed the world, food insecurity remains a reality for far too many families. More than 385,000 Iowans — including over 120,000 children — face hunger and uncertainty around where their next meal will come from. Across both urban and rural communities, families continue to navigate rising food costs, financial strain, and limited access to fresh, nutritious food.

At the Opal & Oak Foundation, we believe hospitality goes beyond the table. It is about service, dignity, and showing up for our communities in meaningful ways. Opportunities like the Iowa Hunger Summit allow us to continue learning, collaborating, and contributing to the fight against hunger throughout our state.

Last night, through the Opal & Oak Foundation, we had the honor of serving warm meals to members of our community experiencing hardship.

A hearty homemade meal, fresh fruit, bread, and salad may seem simple to some — but to others, it means being seen, cared for, and reminded that they matter.

At the end of the day, hospitality is not about luxury.
It’s about dignity.

Every tray served is a reminder of why we do this: to nourish communities, restore hope, and lead with compassion. 🤍

🍲 Nourishing Iowa’s Communities 🍲
We’re serving ~50 guests on the dates below (with seconds & thirds welcome ❤️) at Beacon of Hope in Fort Dodge next week.

From-scratch meals – May 2026:
• Wed May 20 – Lentil Vegetable Stew over Brown Rice + salads & fruit
• Fri May 22 – Lemon-Herb Roasted Chicken with Veggies & Quinoa + cinnamon apples
• Tue May 26 – Black Bean Chili with Cornbread + slaw & oat bars
• Thu May 28 – Spinach Potato Egg Frittata + strawberry salad & crisp

Drinks: Whole & chocolate milk, sweet tea, lemonade.

All made with fresh local May produce for maximum nutrition and love. No one leaves hungry!

At the Opal & Oak Foundation, our mission has always been bigger than food — it is about dignity, compassion, and showing up for those who need support the most.

We are proud to announce our upcoming Beacon of Hope meal service dates for May:

• May 20
• May 22
• May 26
• May 28

These meals are part of our continued commitment to serving members of our community through warm, nourishing, chef-prepared meals made with care.

Please note that on May 22, our President & Founder, Harrison Tille, will be attending a previously scheduled event. A designated lead coordinator will oversee meal operations that evening to ensure service continues seamlessly.

Opal & Oak Foundation | Nourish & Care Initiative

Last night, our Founder and President was in the kitchen—serving, cooking, and showing up for the community we’re committed to supporting.

But this work is never done alone. It happens because of the people who step in, give their time, donate resources, and believe in what we’re building. Every meal served is a collective effort.

We’re continuing this momentum with four additional service dates next month, and we’re actively seeking support—whether that’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Every contribution directly impacts someone who needs it.

As we move into May and approach the summer months, the need becomes even more urgent. Many children lose access to consistent meals when school is out, and families often face increased strain.

If you’re in a position to give, support, or get involved, we invite you to be part of this work.

We’re proud to officially relaunch the Opal & Oak Foundation’s Nourish & Care Program.

Through this program, our Beacon of Hope Meals will be served four times each month at local homeless shelters—providing consistent, ready-to-eat meals prepared with care, dignity, and intention.

Our first services will take place on April 24th and April 28th, marking the beginning of this ongoing initiative.

In addition, we will be introducing a monthly Food Relief Night for families in need, with more details to follow.

This work is rooted in community, consistency, and compassion—and we are committed to showing up.
