October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and at Harvest Church we want to take time to honor two men whose faithfulness, service, and love for this church have made a lasting impact.

First, we honor our Lead Pastor and revitalizer, Pastor J Taylor Choate.

Pastor Taylor and his family came to Hull-Daisetta in 2022 with a burden to see First Assembly of God revitalized and renewed. Looking back over these past five years, we are simply amazed by all that God has done. Today, we are Harvest Church, and the faithfulness of God has been evident every step of the way.

Pastor Taylor serves with passion, consistency, and a genuine love for people. He shows up early, stays late, answers calls, responds to needs, prays with those who are hurting, and faithfully preaches the Word of God. From mowing the lawn and overseeing facility renovations to laying hands on the sick and casting vision for the future, he has never been afraid to do whatever the moment requires.

We are deeply grateful for the Choate family and for the faith, sacrifice, and vision they carried into this community. They were willing to see what others could not yet see and believe God for what had not yet happened. Harvest Church is stronger today because they said yes.

We also want to honor a very special friend and servant of Harvest Church, Randall Zernial.

While Randall does not carry the title of “Pastor” at Harvest, there is no question that he carries a pastor’s heart for this church and its people. He has faithfully served in children’s ministry, event planning, behind-the-scenes support, and just about everything in between.

What many people may never see is how consistently Randall makes himself available to Pastor Taylor and to Harvest Church. When there is a need, he is willing. When there is work to be done, he shows up. When someone needs encouragement, support, or care, Randall is often there quietly serving without looking for recognition.

This month, we honor both of these men for their faithfulness to the Lord and their devotion to His Church.

Thank you, Pastor Taylor and Randall, for serving with humility, consistency, and love. Harvest Church is blessed by your lives, your leadership, and your example.

WANT TO HELP FEED OUR COMMUNITY THIS THANKSGIVING?

For each of the past five years, Harvest Church has hosted a Thanksgiving meal that is completely FREE and open to everyone. We typically serve 150–200 people, and we’re preparing for at least that many—and potentially more—this year.

Some years we’ve had plenty; other years we’ve run out. With your help, we want to make sure there’s enough food and a welcoming place at the table for everyone who comes.

We’d love for individuals, families, businesses, and churches to partner with us. This meal is about serving our neighbors and creating a place for faith, family, and fellowship during the holidays.

Harvest Church is providing 5 smoked turkeys, 3 fried turkeys, and 3 smoked hams. You can help by contributing financially toward the meal or providing needed sides and desserts. Our first priority is covering the Thanksgiving favorites—mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, and rolls—followed by pies and other desserts.

Karen Gandy is coordinating all food contributions. Please contact her BEFORE purchasing, preparing, or bringing food so she can confirm which dishes and quantities are needed. This helps us cover every need and avoid duplicates.

What an honor and privilege it was for us to receive the ministry of Jordan Gigout today at Harvest Church!

Jordan preached and taught the Word of God in such an impactful, authentic, and Spirit-led way. His passion for the Lord, commitment to the truth of Scripture, and genuine heart for people were evident throughout his ministry today.

There is something special about having someone stand behind the pulpit who doesn’t simply have a message to preach, but has clearly allowed the message to do a work in their own life first.

Jordan, thank you for your faithfulness to the call of God upon your life. Thank you for investing in our church family, challenging us through the Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to use you to encourage and strengthen the body of Christ. We honor you, appreciate you, and pray that the Lord continues to open doors for your ministry and multiply the fruit of your obedience!

Harvest Church is better because of the investment you made in us today.

We're anticipating a great Spirit-filled service this weekend as we host special guest speaker Jordan Gigout.

Jordan is an East Texas Baptist University student and athlete. Having been raised in church and in a family of ministers Jordan has found a renewed passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus to all who have a willingness to hear. Jordan is also the grandson of Evangelist Gene Summers who is a frequent guest speaker and friend of many at Harvest Church.

If you haven't been to church in a while, have been wanting to try something new/different, or if you are a regular attender...this is surely to be a service you won't want to miss out on.

Pastor J Taylor Choate mentioned a few weeks ago that his kids LOVE reading a specific bible for kids. Well here it is. This bible is well written in a way that tells the story of God and his love for us from Genesis all the way through revelation. It connects each story to God's plan of redemption through Jesus. It does not hold back from teaching children that sin separates us from God and that we all are in need of Jesus.

Pastor Taylor HIGHLY reccomends this bible if you have children!
