Year 13. I am always and forever humbled at the support of this community. We raised every dollar needed. We collected every item needed AND MORE. We fed 150 families, over 800 people Thanksgiving Groceries so they can take them home and bake with their families.
We had businesses, every school in Lumpkin County, sports teams, church small groups, groups of friends, Lumpkin County Probation, Lumpkin County Sheriffs Dept, Sororities, Restaurants, Gyms and so many more all come together to bring in thousands dollars and thousands of items for our families.
We had over 100 volunteers. We had teachers on their holiday break, Dads, Moms, children, church members, a school Principal, Cheerleaders, Gymnasts, Coaches, baseball players, Band members, former recipients, Pastors, friends, family.. some came from hours away to help. It was a collaboration of hard work and pure goodness of peoples hearts.
Thank you to every single person who took time out of their days to come serve others. Whether you came for 30 minutes or 10 hours, your time was appreciated and purposeful.
This year was difficult. From being too pregnant to function, 5 weeks of bed rest, major surgery and a premature newborn, I’m truly surprised we didn’t have major complications from my lack of brain capacity and sleep. But every single year, somehow we manage. And this year was no different. Thank you to those who stepped up to lend a hand when it was needed.
Thank you to my partner in crime and an absolute pillar in our community as she serves others all year long, Lumpkin Family Connection’s Brigette Barker. Thank you for all that you do.
Thank you Michele Granger, Molly Richardson, Trina Carter and Maddy Eiberger for showing up every single year and making magic happen with your experience and faithfulness to this event.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support.
Forever Humbled,
Amberly Lyons Whitehead
