On Saturday, May 27, from 1PM - 3PM, the Gold Museum is hosting the Golden Eagle Paper Airplane Competition, and we need volunteers for this outdoor event!

From 1PM - 1:30PM, participants will be folding their paper airplanes. If you have any aviation experience of any kind - no matter how small - please sign up to offer assistance to anyone folding their planes.

From 1:30PM - 3PM is the actual competition. There are six stations, and ideally, we will have two volunteers at each station. One volunteer will help each participant throw their plane, and the other volunteer will be the record keeper.

Accuracy station - volunteers will award points based on flying a plane through a hoop and landing in a landing zone.
Distance station - if a plane flies 27 feet, 27 points will be awarded.
Hang Time station - A stopwatch (an app on most phones) will determine how long a plane can remain aloft
Acrobatics station - Planes that fly in a particular pattern or with "stunts"
Cargo station - Must fly a plane 10 feet with quarters taped to it
Artistic Design station - Most creative airplane designs (volunteers will judge based on personal preference - I prefer more than two judges in this category)

If you're interested in volunteering please contact Marcia at the museum (706-864-2257) or her cell (770-561-8617).

Thank you so very much!

Marcia
