Georgia Military Veterans' Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Saturday, Nov 7, 2026, 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Alumnus, COL (Ret) Wadie J. "Jiggs" Rountree will be posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame at the ceremony. COL Rountree's son, Greg Rountree, will be in Columbus at the GA Military Hall of Fame Award Ceremony.

North Georgia has had an inductee into the GMVHOF every year since its inception. Among the notable alumni inductees are:
- Major General (Ret) James Livingston
- LTG (Ret) James Terry
- LTG (Ret) James Jarrard
- GEN (Ret) Stephen Townsend
- COL (Ret) John Thompson
- COL (Ret) Wayne Dill

The Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame (GMVHOF) Induction Ceremony is a formal, deeply patriotic event held each year on the first Saturday of November in Columbus, Georgia, honoring Georgia’s most distinguished veterans for Valor, Achievement, and Service. It blends military tradition, solemn recognition, and community pride in a setting designed to celebrate sacrifice and legacy.

UNG was named a Military Friendly School Gold and Military Spouse Friendly School designee by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

Amber Lowery and Gabe Lowery are each pursuing different areas of study and post-graduation plans at the University of North Georgia (UNG). She is seeking a degree in biology with the goal of becoming a surgeon, while he is pursuing a degree in accounting as a Green-to-Gold active-duty soldier who will become an Army officer upon graduation.

While their career goals are diverging, the wife-and-husband duo has been appreciative of the shared support they are experiencing as Army veterans who are students at UNG.

Attention Alumni,

Ethan Brown '22 is a Passport Specialist at the Atlanta Passport Office. His office is hosting a Passport Application Day on the Dahlonega campus to assist cadets in applying for a passport in a quick and convenient manner on campus.

They are extending the opportunity to UNG alumni, faculty, staff, and family members. Individuals who have access to UNG Connect can apply online using the QR code on the flier. Others can attend within the time frame on the flyer.

Description
The Center for Global Engagement and Global Military Programs presents this special opportunity for UNG students and cadets to apply in person for their U.S. passports on campus with Passport Services staff from the U.S. Department of State. Interested students who want to take this first step toward studying abroad, international internships, and global opportunities must register on Connect and bring the following items to the event.
- Printed Application Form (either DS-11, DS-82, or DS-5504 according to eligibility) Find forms here: pptform.state.gov
- Original citizenship evidence with photocopy (valid or most recently issued passport, US birth certificate, Naturalization/Citizenship certificate, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad)
- 1 color 2” by 2” passport photograph
- Valid Identification (State Issued ID, Driver’s License, or School ID)
- Payment can be made by credit/debit card or tap-to-pay
