On February 23, 1945, six Marines raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima.

The image became one of the most recognized photographs in history, not because it marked the end of the battle, but because it captured resolve in the middle of unimaginable sacrifice.

81 years later, it remains a symbol of courage, unity, and unbreakable determination.

We honor the Marines who fought there, and we remember all who gave their lives.
