Yahoola Outdoors (formerly Yahoola Trails Conservancy) is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to the conservation, improvement, creation and enjoyment of outdoor recreational opportunities in the Dahlonega/Lumpkin County and greater North Georgia region. Through educational programs, Yahoola Outdoors seeks to inform the public of the many opportunities for outdoor recreation in the area, the
social and economic benefits these opportunities provide to the community, and the need for the conservation, care and maintenance of the natural resources that surround us. Volunteer programs allow Yahoola Outdoors members and the general public to “give back”. It is vitally important that those of us who use and enjoy these resources today do our part to ensure that they are here for the enjoyment of others in both this and future generations. Trail maintenance work days and river clean-ups are just two examples of how we can work together to improve the outdoor experience in our region. Yahoola Outdoors is also involved in the establishment of new places and ways to experience the natural environment. What was then called Yahoola Trails Conservancy was significantly involved in the building and early maintenance of the trails in Yahoola Creek Park near downtown Dahlonega. Projects like this will enhance the experience of living in and visiting the North Georgia Region. Finally, Yahoola Outdoors provides opportunities to get out and enjoy the outdoors in North Georgia. Our members have a wealth of experience in a variety of outdoor recreation disciplines. From hiking/backpacking, to canoeing/kayaking, to mountain biking, there will be opportunities throughout the year to get together with others who share your love for the outdoors, to experience the natural beauty of North Georgia.
