Today was a solemn day as we gathered to remember and honor our brothers and sisters who fought and died for our freedom. PFC James J. "Spanky" Harrelson American Legion Post 143 Legionaires had held a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial in front of the Dadeville courthouse and later participated in the Memorial ceremony at Patriot Park Dadeville where we were asked to retire the American and Alabama flags in the Park as well as hoist new flags. There was also a wreath laying ceremony in honor of the tomb of the unknown soldier as well as several dignitaries present to speak. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this ceremony and are deeply grateful for Park owner Pat Michael and previous owner and still supporter Kurt Pfitzner for planning and hosting this for our community to join in remembrance.
We also would like to thank Linda Benton Taylor and Nana's Wreath Boutique and More for making a beautiful wreath for the courthouse memorial.
May we never forget the sacrifices made by our fallen comrades.
