Happy Thursday, everyone! This morning, we were excited to welcome some special visitors: Officer Garofalo, Chief Starling, and Dade City Police Canine, Ghost! They taught us about the importance of having a Narcotics Detection Dog in our community and how beneficial Ghost is to our police force.

Officer Garofalo shared that he is responsible for Ghost, who is not only a working dog but also his true companion. He mentioned that he loves going to work every day because he gets to spend time with his best friend.

Chief Starling expressed her enthusiasm for being a part of the Dade City community and emphasized that they are dedicated to protecting our city while keeping it historic and friendly.

Thank you, Chief Starling, Officer Garofalo, and the incredibly friendly and lovable Ghost!

Happy Thursday from Dade City Sunrise!

This week, we welcomed Tracy Hanson and the Caterpillars to Butterflies! This organization aims to support children in the foster care system. While necessities are often donated, this initiative allows children to choose items they wish to have.

Last year, the organization provided over 100 backpacks for back-to-school, 200 books, 150 Christmas dinners, and 155 magical Christmas experiences. These are just a few of their impressive accomplishments! Caterpillars to Butterflies helps children in these situations gain a sense of normalcy in their lives.

To contribute to this incredible organization, we donated Easter basket goodies to help ensure that children have a wonderful Easter holiday.

Thank you for joining us this morning, and congratulations on helping to make our community better!

Over the past few weeks, we have had some amazing speakers!

Bob Keefer, an author and physician, spoke about Alzheimer’s disease and hearing loss and shared his efforts to work with Congress on these issues.

Kyle Christmas discussed Scouting Outreach, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be a Scout, regardless of their circumstances.

Dr. Gretchen Rudolph-Fladd spoke about the merging of Pasco Elementary School and Pasco Middle School, highlighting the great opportunities this merger will bring to the staff, students, and the Dade City community.

Kathleen Luzier-Bogolea informed us about the John Hopkins All Children's Hospital being built in our area. She explained what an outstanding opportunity this represents for our community and how it will significantly contribute to our children's health and safety.

This morning, our President Matt spoke about the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community. Not only is it beneficial for others, but it is also rewarding for us!

We are looking forward to another great month of leadership and are excited to be selling our annual Kumquat Wine this weekend at the Kumquat Festival. We hope to see you there!

We are starting the new year strong with a special message from our president, Matt.

He reminded us of the importance of the Four-Way Test and emphasized the need to represent Rotary to the best of our abilities.

Our goal is to get to know our members better by asking more questions and continuing to strengthen our connections. We will keep saying "yes" because we love our community, and that’s what Rotary is all about—serving others!

Thank you, Matt, for a fantastic morning! We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for us!

Happy Thursday, everyone!

We were excited to welcome James Walters, the former Chief of Police of Dade City, to our meeting this morning! He provided valuable insights and updates on the homelessness crisis in Pasco County. James highlighted various community and faith-based groups that are doing an excellent job supporting our homeless population and discussed how we, as citizens, can help by encouraging those in need to utilize shelters such as United Way and Metropolitan Ministries.

Additionally, we took a moment to honor those who have served in our military. We hope everyone had a happy Veteran's Day, and we thank all who have served. Wishing you all a great week ahead!

For this week's meeting, our club received an update from Nick Walton, Jen Tussing and Shae Davis representing The Sarah Vande Berg Tennis Foundation. This amazing initiative hosts tennis programs in our East Pasco Title 1 schools. Not only do these students learn the game of tennis, but also life and leadership skills. Our club is proud to play a small part to help further the mission of The SVB Tennis Foundation! 🎾
