Not every baby squirrel needs to come into a rehabilitator!!!!!

1. If the animal is injured- rehabilatator

2. If the baby squirrel was in your cat or dogs mouth —-go to #1 Yes it looks fine, but does it have internal injuries?

3. Uninjured baby squirrel: the next step is to go through the steps to try to reunite it with mom squirrel. Call me or another rehabilitator for advice and steps. I am going to ask you questions to determine the status and wellness of that baby.

Yes there are other circumstances but let’s talk. Not anywhere in any literature does it say FEED that baby. I will take care of that or the mom squirrel will take care of that if united. YOU are not feed that baby. The chance of feeding it the incorrect thing with the wrong implement will do more harm. The best way to help is to keep it warm and call a rehabber.

No rehabilitator needs another squirrel in care if there is a mom squirrel out there frantically looking for her baby.

No questions are silly. I would rather you ask me questions than to do something wrong.

And to those that tell me they can raise a squirrel — the answer is no you cannot. I will never agree to assist you with this. It is illegal for you to raise and possess wildlife. Period.

Hi all,

I needed to take a minute to let everyone know that this is the busiest time of year for rehabbers.

I am currently in the process of releasing some patients but I am getting in as many as I release. Besides feeding and medicating the animals there is also the cleaning of enclosures, getting supplies and vet visits when necessary. Thephone calls for help are constant.

I cannot answer calls about current patients at this time. I honestly don’t have the time to get on the phone to chat. Happy to update you if you text me. Please limit your text messages to every few days. I understand you are concerned about the animal you dropped off but please respect my time that I must dedicate to the critical patients in care.

Several people have asked to visit: the answer is no. The rehabilitation room is a quiet room, with low voices and no phones to help our patients get better in a stress free environment.

Thank you all for understanding.

Cute rabbit photo to enjoy.

Regards,

Suzanne

To all my friends in the Dacula Ga area. I am in need of empty shoe and tissue boxes. They are used for the opossums and squirrels. I have gone through all the boxes we have collected.

Please feel free to drop them on the front porch or by the garage. Message me if you need the address.

Hi to all my followers.

I am In need of some help on Saturday May 30th. We purchased a car port to go over the outdoor animal cages. We have the entire thing together, except for the roof panels.
Neither my husband or I can do ladder work( yup we are getting old).

We have all the tools and the ladder.

Time for doing this 10am weather permitting

Can you text me at 908-581-2432 and let me know if you are able to help us? I know with a few helpers we can get this project done! And the opossums will appreciate it.

It's spring. Lots of intakes coming in. Orphaned babies and injured wildlife.

Please think about making a financial donation when you drop off an animal. I am not supported by the state of Georgia but I am liscensed by the state.

I just posted about a rabbit that was in care.
The rabbit was on oral and topical antibiotics.

I got in a young squirrel that required pain meds, antibiotics and SQ fluids.

Another young squirrel came in. When the eyes opened at 4 weeks she had a cloudy eye. Had a vet visit and has special eye drops.

Even a small contribution helps defray the cost of medication, vet visits and food.

If you are following this page please consider a donation.

Hi all
I haven't posted in awhile because of all the intakes! I did want to share a story about a wild adult rabbit that came into care.

The rabbit had been clawed by a large raptor. Deep talon marks on both sides of his back.

In all my years of experience, I have never had a rabbit so cooperative! He hopped out of the carrier into the enclosure on own. Took every does of medication without an issue. As soon as his wounds healed( which was quickly) he hopped back into the carrier to be returned to his neighborhood!

I would just motion and he would move. Very calm. Super relaxed. He acted like he was a pet.

Sharing a photo of his release! Rabbits are usually very stressed so I am happy he made a full recovery and went back to the wild.

Hey everyone....
In order to reach me don't post messages about wildlife you need help with on the Dacula Wildlife FB page! Messages don't come in on a timely basis.

With your full name, location, details of what is going on( animal is bleeding from the mouth or unable to move back legs) is more helpful than the animal is hurt.

Keep the animal warm, in a dark quiet place to reduce stress and prevent shock.
Do not feed or handle. Feeding the wrong thing with the incorrect implement can cause more harm.

I am happy to help and if I cannot, I will provide you with other resources.

Please note: I am unable to pick up animals but there may be some resources to help if you are a distance from Dacula.
