A scholarship opens the door to a great school. Arete RISE is what walks through it with them. Beyond the classroom, we walk alongside scholars at every stage of their journey through early literacy support in the youngest grades, leadership development, college preparation, and alumni programming that keeps them connected long after graduation.

For thousands of scholars across Georgia, Louisiana, and Alabama, a new school year means walking into a school their family chose, one that fits their child's gifts, their values, and their learning needs. 🌎 Oh, the places they’ll go.

In just 60 days, Matthew Dormus, Arete’s 2022 Graduate of the Year, traveled to six continents with one goal in mind: learning more about human rights around the world.

From country to country, Matthew immersed himself in new cultures, perspectives, and communities, turning his passion for learning into a truly global experience. His journey is a powerful reminder that education doesn’t just open doors—it can open up the world. ✈️🌍

For Stephanie, watching Liam, Leah, and Levi grow up at Lithonia Adventist Academy has been about more than seeing their grades improve—it has been about watching three children become confident, curious, and faith-filled young people. With the support of an Arete scholarship, the siblings have had the opportunity to remain in a school community that nurtures both their academic goals and their faith, while experiences through Arete RISE have given them new opportunities to explore, connect, and grow beyond the classroom.

Summer camp looked a little different for 50 Arete scholars this year! From Camp Rockmont and Camp Kateri at Rosaryville Retreat Center to Camp Kaleo, Camp Westminster in Conyers, GA, and the Gleason Life Skills Sports Clinic, our students spent their summer trying new things, meeting new people, stepping outside their comfort zones, and making memories they’ll carry with them for years to come. ☀️🏕️

These experiences gave our scholars the chance to build confidence, discover new interests, strengthen friendships, and grow into the amazing young people they are becoming. We’re so proud of everything they accomplished this summer, and so grateful to the donors and partners who helped make these opportunities possible!

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they can thrive, and for Kerrol, that opportunity has made all the difference.

With the help of an Arete scholarship, Kerrol has grown in confidence and found his place at Evangelical Christian Academy. As he graduates kindergarten, his mother is proud of everything he has accomplished and excited to see where his journey takes him next. Stories like Kerrol's are why we do this work. When families have access to the right school, incredible things happen.
