Summer Camp 2026 - Hale Scout Reservation

Great week of camping, time with friends, being outside and learning new skills. Our scouts stayed busy with merit badge classes, sports and water activities during free time, and spent part of Friday morning exploring the camp with a 5 or 11-mile hike. No doubt they all came home tired after a week packed with fun and memories.

A special thanks to our adult leaders who helped make this possible!

Summer is right around the corner! Summer camp and Sea Base aren’t far off either 😎

Water was chilly, but Scouts stayed busy with their annual swim test and working on the swimming merit badge. They aren’t doing a group hug in the deep end, scouts are demonstrating their water rescue strategies.

Last weekend focused on pioneering and lashing skills + some Texas history.

Troop 846 spent the weekend at Goliad State Park. Scouts worked on their skills to build a ladder and rope bridge. They also spent time on Saturday visiting the Mission Espiritu Santo to learn about the restored Spanish colonial-era mission and life in 18th century Texas.

Sunday, scouts toured the Presidio La Bahía. The presidio protected the mission and the frontier. It later played a major role in the Texas Revolution. Col. James Fannin and his troops were held here before Santa Anna ordered their ex*****on. This act of infamy was a rallying cry at the Battle of San Jacinto: "Remember Goliad! Remember the Alamo!"

The pioneering skills our Scouts worked on are not that different from skills one would need to survive in 18th century Texas. Seeing scout skills tied to history is always worthwhile lesson.
