Big Cypress District Camporee 2026 ⛺️

A weekend of friendly competition, skill-building, and camaraderie. Patrols competed in outdoor skills like fire building, navigation, first aid, and pioneering, themed and designed to test leadership and teamwork. Troop 846 scouts had a great time and brought home multiple awards!

The mini-Olympics of scouting, troop patrols rotate through skill stations, are judged on their campsites, scout spirit, costumes, and prepare their best skits for the campfire program. It’s a fun weekend that brings out the best in our scouts!

Thank you to Big Cypress District volunteers for planning and organizing this highly anticipated event! See ya next year!

Brrr! Chilly weekend for some backpacking at Inks Lake State Park 🥶 A late arrival meant a 1.5 mile nighttime trek to the primitive sites, but the scouts were all troopers! Saturday was spent exploring the park and getting some practice with their packs. Meals were prepared over backpacking stoves and practicing those on-the-trail skills. Scouts also took a pre-dawn hike to a view point to catch the sunrise Sunday morning. It was a cold, but fun weekend 🥾

Winter break also mean opportunities to develop leadership skills at SHAC NYLT.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed six-day council-level program designed to provide Scouts in troops, crews, and ships with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

Three scouts from our Troop attended the December 2025 NYLT courses at Bovay Scout Ranch. The skills they learned and knowledge gained will be beneficial as they lead our troop 🌟

Winter break means Winter Camp at Camp Strake! Scouts spent the days between Christmas and New Years busy with merit badge classes, activities such as Is It Cake?, making new friends and camping with temps starting in the 80s to dropping into the 30s. They had a movin’ and groovin’ good time! ✌🏻

Thank you to our ASMs for taking the boys to camp! We couldn’t do this without you!

We kicked off 2026 with a gear check for our upcoming mini-backpacking 🎒 trip. We outfitted the newer scouts with backpacks and went over the basics of packing and what we’ll need for a more primitive campout.

Happy New Year from Troop 846! 🪩🎉

Another year in the books, 2025 saw our scouts going on monthly camp weekends, working on rank requirements, McNeil Scout Ranch in Colorado, two crews went to Northern Tier High Adventure, holiday parties, and rounding out the year with Winter Camp at Camp Strake and SHAC NYLT. These Scouts stay busy!

Can’t wait to see the adventure that awaits us in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣! 😎 This year is a Florida Sea Base summer!

Happy Holidays from Troop 846!

Scouts wrapped up 2025 with one last meeting - a White Elephant party! Gifts were passed around and stolen from each other, lots of treats to snack on, and Scouts celebrated the coming holiday break with each other.

Although Troop meetings will take a break till 2026, our Scouts will be busy during the last week of December. Winter Camp at Strake and NYLT at Bovay will see our Scouts having a great time, improving both their technical and leadership skills.
