🇺🇸Honored to Serve at the 33rd Annual Houston Stand Down 🇺🇸

My heart is full after participating in the 33rd Annual Houston Stand Down. It was an incredible honor to represent The Living Legacy Center and stand alongside so many organizations, volunteers, and community partners who came together to support our nation's heroes.

This was my third year volunteering and my second year serving as Chair over Men's Basic Needs, and every year I leave feeling like I received so much more than I gave. The stories, smiles, gratitude, and resilience of the veterans we serve are truly inspiring.

A very special thank you to Alice Bennett and Susan Thornburg for their amazing support and dedication throughout the day. Your willingness to greet every veteran with kindness, compassion, and a generous heart helped make each person feel welcomed and valued. Your servant leadership was evident in every interaction.

A huge thank you also goes to Bombas for their generous donation of men's socks. Bombas continues to make a meaningful impact by helping provide comfort, dignity, and essential items to those in need. Your commitment to giving back helps make events like this even more successful, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

It was absolutely amazing to see such an incredible turnout of organizations, volunteers, and community members all united with one purpose: supporting our veterans and ensuring they have access to the resources, services, and opportunities they have earned through their service. A personal thank you to Lawrence Brown and Operation Patriot Packs for their support and dedication to those who put their lives on the line for all of us!

Thank you to KPRC2 / Click2Houston and FOX 26 Houston for coming out and helping tell these important stories. By giving a voice to those who sacrificed for our country, you help raise awareness and shine a light on the needs and successes of our veteran community.

And it was wonderful seeing KPRC2 Mario Diaz again and watching him engage with some of our heroes. His genuine interest and heartfelt conversations with veterans reminded us all of the importance of listening to and honoring their experiences.

The Houston Stand Down is much more than a one-day event. It is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to serve those who have served us. I am grateful to have been a small part of it and already look forward to next year.

To all the veterans who attended: Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your courage. It was our privilege to serve you. ❤️🇺🇸

Introducing Our Keynote Speaker

Melanie Bragg

The Living Legacy Center is honored to welcome Melanie Bragg as the keynote speaker for our Pancakes with a Purpose Breakfast Fundraiser.

Melanie Bragg is the founder of Bragg Law and Legal Insight, Inc. and an accomplished attorney whose general practice includes estate planning, probate, guardianships, family, small business formation, real estate, and mediation. Throughout her distinguished legal career, she has dedicated herself not only to serving clients but also to advocating for vulnerable individuals and children throughout Texas.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Melanie earned her Bachelor of Science with Honors before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. Following a year as a Briefing Attorney for the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston, she launched her own law practice and has since built a reputation for excellence and fierce advocacy.

Melanie is most proud of being the first woman president of the Houston Young Lawyers Association in 1990. She is also proud of becoming the chair of the American Bar Association's Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Division in 2018-19. The organization gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. She still serves as a Director and chairs the Book Publications board. Last year, she was asked to serve as Co-chair for the much needed and newly formed Solo Small Firm Section of the Houston Bar Association. She also serves on the Victory Cancer charity where $1.8 million dollars is raised in Houston for cancer research. She is an author of 3 books and since 2013 she writes a monthly column for the ABA on the subjects of leadership and mindfulness. She speaks and teaches on these subjects, but most importantly she walks the walk and talks the talk.

Join us as we welcome Melanie Bragg, whose passion for advocacy, justice, and community service makes her an inspiring voice for this special morning dedicated to purpose, impact, and legacy.
