Finally getting more of our school items organized and scanned. This is one of my favorites! Unsure when the actual photo was taken, but this is from the 1956 "School Memories" book. Wouldn't the original Cypress / Lamkin Elementary make a wonderful Museum and Archives for the district?!

With the auditorium demolished and a new one under construction at Cy-Fair HS, we thought some of you would like to see photos of the former one when it was brand new (1966-67). Notice the lack of classrooms in front or to the left side! Also, are we remembering correctly that backstage was haunted?

Thank you Arnold Middle School for the recent donations!! Here are just a few of the items received. Yet another example of why we highly encourage CFISD to create an Archives and Museum! Did you know that the small building between Cy-Fair and Arnold was the original Cypress Elementary (built in about 1945) and was renamed as Lamkin Elementary before the current building for Lamkin was built.

The Barber Shop is scheduled for a deep clean!
Elisha Roberts Chapter, NSDAR - Cypress, TX is scheduled to come out Tuesday, May 13 for a day of cleaning on the old Barber Shop bldg. I'm so excited for this long neglected building to get a bit of a shine!

I have done a tiny bit of research - but this is the least well documented building at the whole park. PLEASE help share whatever you might recall!!

Best I can figure out - the building started out as a liquor store. Mr Vaughn turned the right half of the place into a barber shop in the late 50s or maybe 1960. At some point, Leon took over the whole building and it became Leon's barber shop. That's all I know. Seriously, that is ALL I know. Full names of Mr. Vaughn and Leon? Nope. Pictures of the front of the building when it was operating? Nope. Would love anything you have - was there ever a barber pole? If we someday get tons of money to refubish the place, I'd love to put up signage - but would want it at least a little bit authentic.
