Our next chapter gathering will be this Sunday, August 23, at 2:30pm at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Airport. Our speaker this month will be our very own Mark Baty. Mark will talk about his experience flying hang gliders, ultralights and gliders well before he built his RV. This will be a great presentation you won’t want to miss! Everyone is welcome. We hope to see you Sunday!

For anyone at Oshkosh this week, our chapter’s very own Jim Wilson will be speaking tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22 at 1:00 pm at Workshop Classroom B about cross country air racing with the Sport Air Racing League. Come learn about the league and how you can participate in a race, no matter what type of airplane you fly.

At our last chapter gathering, chapter scholarship coordinator Mark Baty presented chapter member Aidan Parsons with our first Chapter 1522 Instrument Rating Scholarship! This is our very first chapter-funded advanced rating scholarship and was made possible by generous charitable donations to the chapter. Aidan is a private pilot and has been an active member of our chapter since he was very young. In addition to perusing his instrument rating, Aidan is also working on earning his A&P certificate. Congrats Aidan!

Our next EAA Chapter 1522 gathering is today, Sunday, June 28th at 2:30pm at the Cynthiana Airport. This month we are looking forward to making an exciting scholarship announcement! We will also hear about the upcoming Bluegrass 150 Air Race and we'll get updates from our members who are currently building airplanes. If the weather cooperates, we'll fly some Young Eagles afterward. We hope you'll join us - everyone welcome!

Due to the inclement weather forecast for Saturday, we have made the decision to cancel our Young Eagles rally on June 27. We hope to reschedule later in the year. We appreciate your understanding. The safety of our passengers and pilots is our highest priority.

Our next EAA 1522 chapter gathering will by this Sunday, May 24th at 2:30 at the Cynthiana Airport. This month's speaker is chapter member Mike Rath, who will speak about building and recently completing the first flight of his beautiful Sonerai. We will also hear updates from other chapter members who are currently homebuilding. As a reminder, the Cynthiana Airport is closed for runway construction, so there will be no Young Eagle flights this month. We hope to see you on Sunday!
