Custer Tech Kids

Custer Tech Kids For five years I've been involved with Pack 25, Custers local Cub Scouts. For four years I've ran the F.I.R.S.T.

Young Visionaries with a dream of opening a "Youth Empowerment Square" designed to offer a home base for youth groups without one, encourage hands-on STEM-related activities and promote local youth to become the change they'd to see in their community. Amazing things happen when you give youth the tools to invision change, skills to be innovative with their solutions to problems they face, the kno

wledge to make it happen, and the belief that they have the ability to be the change they want to see in the world around them. Lego League teams for ages 6 - 14 years old in our community. For the last three years, youth involved with both groups have seen things they've wanted to change in our small town or thought would help whichever youth group have further positive impact on local kids. For the last two years, 5 specific youth that belong to both Scouts and FLL have insisted on having a voice and changing the landscape in our rural community for school aged kids. The last year has had me learning as much as I can to become the adult voice needed so their young voices are heard. If we haven't already met, my name is Nicole Anderson. The voice is mine, the dream is theirs, and the passion is shared. Welcome to Custer Tech Kids, the group determined to change rural communities into technological friendly environments that encourage youth to explore, discover, and become the innovative leaders tomorrow needs today.

Ever have a plan in place that life seems to want to keep you as far away from as possible? Yeah, me too. 2-3 years ago the "Fab Five" (register as a Patron for more information on these incredibly bright youngsters) handed me a 10 year business plan for opening a nonprofit to house disenfranchised youth groups, be a hands on STEM learning center, and house an Outdoor Ethics learning program. ...

We're always asking people in our local community how can we help? Stemming from that, Pack 25 just recently was asked to help with a very specific task.... help pick up all of the litter flying around Legion Lake Lodge and Resorts employee housing and the big dumpsters near them. The wind isn't a trash cans friend.

The height of Cub Scouts makes it much easier for them to reach small bits of trash on the ground, versus the year-round staff that stays in the area. As an added bonus, what a great opportunity to get out and practice BSA's Outdoor Ethics with a hands-on activity!

A date will be announced within the week for this volunteer opportunity with our Pack. Want to join us? Just follow the sign-up link when it's posted. Many hands make light work after all. .... and maybe we'll be able to tie in an afternoon of fishing when we're finished.

Happy 107th birthday to us! On September 14, 1914, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars was organized in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our name has since changed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and our eligibility includes close male relatives of VFW-eligible veterans.

We are thankful for the millions (yes, millions!) of members who have served veterans, service members and their families, and spread patriotism across communities throughout our great nation during our first 107 years. We look forward to serving these target groups in the decades ahead.
