FUNDING WILL BE ALLOCATED AS FOLLOWS:

Drivers Education - Funds allocated will help provide teacher training and maintain a driver's education program and costs associated with our insurance, fuel, safety maintenance and our instructor's training and salary. With continued levy funding, we can maintain our local program for an estimated $180.00 per student. Ext

racurricular Programs - Funds allocated will enable us to continue to fully fund our sports programs (without a "Participation Fee"), including transportation and coaching salaries for: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Softball and Track. Levy funding will also cover basic equipment needs, officials costs and to help replace worn uniforms as needed. Maintenance - Funds allocated for maintenance will allow for routine maintenance of our facilities and grounds, continued improvements to our ball fields and playground, provide us with custodial supplies, funding for classroom furniture, improved security, upgraded heating in the Adam Wike gymnasium and locker rooms, and update lighting across district buildings due to T-12 fluorescent bulbs no longer being manufactured. Supplies & Materials - Funds allocated will help provide our students and teachers with basic classroom needs, to ensure an interactive, enriched and productive curriculum. Support of Programs - Funds allocated will allow us to continue with our current Career and Technical Education programs and also look at adding Consumer and Family Science (Home Ec) and Agricultural Science (Highly Qualified teacher dependent). We will also continue our Character Counts implementation with a focus on creating a school culture that promotes social, emotional and academic growth of all students. Additionally, we would like to pursue Central Washington University's Cornerstone Program that allows high school students the opportunity to take rigorous college courses while still in high school. These classes would be held concurrently with our current AP offerings. Technology - Funding allocated will be used to maintain and support our technology; including computers, science equipment, annual software licensing, lease of copiers, printer cartridges, and part-time staffing. Technology requires ongoing support, maintenance, upgrades, and eventually, replacement. Textbooks & Curriculum - Funds allocated will help us maintain our current adoption schedule and provide our students with updated materials to ensure their academic success. K-12 Language Arts, 9-12 Science, 7-12 History and 9-12 Mathematics all need updated. Transportation - Funds allocated will provide ongoing funding for the mechanical maintenance required to ensure the safety and soundness of our bus fleet and other district owned vehicles. Food Service - Funds allocated will provide updated equipment, supplies and part time staffing to support our breakfast and lunch programs.

UNITY
I dreamed I stood in a studio and
watched two sculptors there
The clay they used was a young child’s
mind and they fashioned it with care

One was a teacher
the tools that were used
Were books, music and art
The other, a parent,
Worked with a guiding hand
and a gentle, loving heart

Day after day,
the teacher toiled with touch
that was deft and sure
while the parent labored close nearby
and polished and smoothed it o’er

And when their task was done,
they were proud of
what they had wrought,
For the things they had molded into a child
could neither be sold nor bought

And each agree they would have failed
If each had worked alone
For behind the parents stood the school
and behind the teacher stood the home

Dear Panther Supporters….

Yet another way your levy dollars are so important in benefitting Panther students…Driver’s Education!

We are fortunate to be a school district that has a trained driver’s education instructor and have the luxury of embedding driver’s education into our daily schedule. Eligible students are able to complete the course work during the day, while getting their ā€œbehind the wheel timeā€ after school or on the weekends. Levy dollars help us maintain the costs associated with offering this unique program as an elective opportunity for Panther students. We are able to offer this class at a nominal fee to our families (see below).
In comparison, three area private driving schools costs families significantly more. In addition to the high cost, families are also burdened with transporting their student to and from the private driving school for each scheduled session.

Cusick School District Driver’s Ed costs = $180.00

Area Driving School Costs:
Road Scholar Driving School located in Colville, WA = $525.00
Number 1 Driving School located in Newport, WA = $550.00
B & B Driving School located in Spokane, WA = $550.00

Dear Panther Supporters...(Please Share)

Here is another way your levy dollars will benefit Panther
students: Extra-Curricular Activities
Extra-Curricular activities are a critical part of a well-rounded education for students. They teach life lessons such as problem solving and cooperation through teamwork and how hard work is required to be successful in anything you do in life. Additionally, extra-curricular activities are instrumental in keeping students actively engaged and focused in the classroom to meet the academic rigor of each class. The State of Washington provides ZERO FUNDING to schools in this category.
Therefore, school districts depend on local support to provide these opportunities for our kids. Your continued levy support will allow us to maintain team sports like football, volleyball, basketball, golf (based on interest), track and field (based on interest), baseball and softball at the middle school and high school levels, without eliminating some or requiring a large participation fee.
Additionally, we are currently able to offer the individual activity of skiing/snowboarding in cooperation with 49° North. Participants are required to have their own equipment or rent it from the ski hill and pay for their pass and lessons. The District provides transportation and adult chaperones.
Here are some photos of Panther students participating in some of these activities.
