Cushing, Iowa, incorporated in 1883, was originally known as Penrose. The name of the town was changed to Cushing on August 29, 1883. He was the brother of David P. Kimball, who was the director of the railroad company that built the bygone railroad line through Cushing. The town celebrated its quasquicentennial in 2008. n Correctionville and Holstein. The city population of 220 and the surrounding citizens are known for their volunteerism. The determination and willingness of the residents to pull together is what makes this community a great place to live. Seven residents serve as the Board of Directors to form the Old 20 Community Development Corporation with the assistance of the Woodbury County Rural Economic Development Department. The directors are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of life for the community and desire to encourage businesses to locate here.
