On March 25, 1949, the Soviet regime launched Operation "Priboi" (“Tidal Wave”), the largest mass deportation campaign of the dark Soviet era. In just three days, over 90,000 people from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were ripped from their homes and sent to the far corners of Siberia. Countless lives were lost in brutal labor camps.
Moscow’s goal then is identical to what we see today in Ukraine: erase national identity, destroy families, and replace culture with "Russia."
This week, Putin signed a decree forcing residents of occupied Ukrainian territories to take Russian passports — or face deportation.
Different century. Same crimes. Same Russia.
