Cumberland Knights of St. Andrew

Cumberland Knights of St. Andrew The Knights of St. Andrew of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Cumberland, Orient of Maryland. There are a number of Knights of St.

Andrew is a special group of 32° Scottish Rite Freemasons dedicated to providing service on behalf of the Scottish Rite. Andrew (KSA) chapters throughout the country. Our Chapter exists to provide service to the Ancient Free and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Cumberland, Orient of Maryland. They are under the immediate supervision of the Personal Representative and provide servic

es where they are needed. The types of service performed include, but are not limited to, aiding the Tyler, acting as greeters, providing es**rt services for dignitaries or for special events created for the ladies during reunions or other functions, serving as guides, bagpipers, providing arches of steel, assisting the Scottish Rite degree work and helping present the colors. Knights of St. Andrew also assist in the calling committees, participate in parades or civic activities, promote fundraising events, and aid in special events. Their flexibility and enthusiasm make the Knights of St. Andrew one of the Valley's most active and desirable organizations. It is an excellent way to nurture and develop future leaders as they learn their organizational and leadership skills, explore the inner structures of their Scottish Rite Centers, and thus gain a deeper admiration for our Order and Brethren who work in Freemasonry as a whole. Jamey Hill 33° and Gary Shircliff 33° saw the need for the formation of Knights of St. Andrew within the Cumberland Valley in late 2007. The first 32 Knights enrolled are recognized as Charter Members and are identified by wearing a checkerboard Glengarry bonnet. The Red Ross in the official tartan for the Order and honors Betsy Ross, maker of the first American flag. She was married to John Ross whose uncle, Col. George Ross, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The Ross Tartan is worn as a tartan fly and kilt by our members. Members may also wear military or family tartans.
