It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved Mr. Fox has flown up to his heavenly roost. Mr. Fox passed peacefully in his home, with his wife Evelyn and three children, Shurley, Toxey and Nina, by his side. His house was full of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren until the day he died, and through his bedroom window, turkeys and deer still passed through his backyard hardwoods.

While we continue to find the words to honor his incredible life and legacy, for now, we remember the words of Mr. Fox:

“I believe it’s important to take care of the things we love. My friends ask me what a man my age is doing planting hardwoods. I believe the good that men do will live long after they’re gone.”

In the form of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, through Mossy Oak, around West Point, and in the woods he hunted and in the turkey hunting world, the good he did will live long after he’s gone.

“Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches… the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.” Psalm 104:12-13

Where does the money raised go? We get that question asked a lot. Today we’re proud to say that’s here in our back yards. I reached out to Cumberland State Forest staff last fall and asked what can we do to help y’all better the 16,000 acres of public forest lands for wildlife and hunting opportunities. They came back with equipment needs, a roto tiller and cultivator. This equipment will help them maintain open lands in the forest which will help the wildlife in the woods around them. Not only will it be used in Cumberland State Forest but it will be shared across others in the area like Appomattox-Buckingham and Charlotte Forests.
We have created a great relationship with the Dept. of Forestry and will see that continue to grow over the years.
We would like to thank Spaulding Equipment Co. and Crewe Tractor for assisting with the two purchases and delivery.
Join us at an event and we will continue to push to better our region for not only turkeys but all wildlife.

As turkey hunters, we see the miracle of the spring vividly; we see insects climbing on greening grasses and think about how they will sustain future poults. We hear that first turkey gobble as the catalyst for the woods coming back to life. We see the redeeming quality of the spring: Darkness returns to light, cold returns to warm, and death returns to life. To us spring hunters, the power of coming back to life is visceral as it is vivid.
This Easter, let us celebrate the redemption and new life that Jesus brings. Let us celebrate Jesus's resurrection and the eternal life he offers. Let us celebrate God’s love.
Happy Easter!
