We hope everyone is enjoying the cold weather right now. Get out of the house. Go outside and enjoy Bear Creek Lake State Park's beauty. Enjoy hiking, biking and maybe just a stroll on the beach before the crowd gets there this spring. Enjoy nature as she sleeps!

We've been busy! New members come join us on February 8th at 1 at Bear Creek Hall. We would love to see you.

Our next meeting is for existing members on January 11th at 1 to review the lightshow and drum up new ideas for this year. Fun fun!

Treasure hunt with a tasty twist! 🧭🔥

📅 Oct. 18
🕰️1 - 4 p.m.

Join us for a GPS-guided geocaching adventure at Bear Creek Lake. Start at the Ranger Table to get your first clue, then track down three hidden caches—each one earns you a s’mores ingredient ticket! 🍫

Return with all three and claim your sweet reward. A campfire will be glowing until 4 p.m. for marshmallow roasting and relaxing. Limited roasting sticks are available so bring your own if possible!

📍 GPS units available to borrow (Photo ID and sign out sheet required). New to geocaching? We’ll show you how!

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, Oct 12 at 1. We start putting down electrical cables the first day on October 21 and need as much help as we can get. Even for an hour or two. Please sign up on our online volunteer form as soon as possible. This will help us greatly.

COME ONE COME ALL!!!

Tomorrow, Sunday at 1:00 the Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park will meet at Bear Creek Hall for our monthly meeting. Please come and bring your friends to discuss how we can make our Christmas Lights show 2025 the best ever. We can use your help.

Virginia Green Travel Alliance is awarding Bear Creek Lake State Park a 2025 Virginia Green Travel Award for efforts to recycle and operate sustainably. ♻️ Bear Creek Lake is also in the running for the "Virginia Green Travel People's Choice Award" and you can help us win. ➡️ The organization with the most likes/shares/comments about our award wins... so you know what to do! 👍

Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park helped the park create the campaign to collect plastic bags so they could be recycled and turned into a bench now used at the park (not the bench pictured). Thanks to our Friends group and everyone who donated plastic bags. Come enjoy sitting on a sustainable bench at the park!
