At Equi Evolution we pride ourselves on our transparency. When things are tough, we tell you. When things are going well, we tell you. We share our journey to encourage, inspire, and connect with each and every one of you.
Today, I want to get very real about the nitty gritty of how we keep our programs running. A subject that makes many uncomfortable, but is at the core of everything…money.
So let’s take a look at exactly what I’m talking about:
An average coaching or therapy session can cost anywhere from $65 - $250
At Equi Evolution we work hard to stay in alignment with these costs to help keep our services accessible to everyone. We offer a sliding fee scale that ranges from $60 – $200/session…pretty consistent (and even a bit lower) than market standards.
A coach or therapist has overhead costs that include things like: office space, utilities, general office supplies, website and marketing, licensing/membership fees, insurance, payroll, CRM/EHR fees, etc.
At Equi Evolution we have all of those expenses, PLUS:
-Hay & Grain
-Supplements & Medication
-Veterinary expenses
-Farrier/Hoof trimming expenses
-Dental care
-Grooming supplies & equipment
-Shelter
-Property upkeep
-Tractor maintenance & repairs
-Manure management
And more...
In terms of operation logistics, like any other practice, we have billing, scheduling, social media management, and website maintenance.
But we also have:
-Feeding
-Mucking
-Grooming
-General medical care & first aid
-Scheduling & management of equine care appointments
-Property maintenance & repair
And the list goes on…
The financial investments, logistical organization, and overall physicality & manpower required to run our equine-facilitated learning programs are exceptionally greater than a traditional coaching or therapy practice…
So why do we do it?
We do it because we know the value and authenticity our unique programs offer. We love being able to help horses that might otherwise end up in neglectful situations, or worse. We love being able to share this special experience with all of you. We love watching people learn and grow and find peace in this space. It is our passion at our very core and we will do whatever it takes to make these opportunities available to humans and horses alike.
But we cannot do it alone.
At present our property is still in need of at least another $30,000 in updates and repair, on top of everything else we maintain on a daily basis. Each day we chip away at this the best we can.
That is why we have launched The Evolution Foundation. A foundation committed to helping us keep the highest standards of care for both our equine partners and our human participants.
On Saturday, May 14 we will host our 1st Annual Fundraising Gala as we continue efforts to fund these programs so we can keep our rates affordable and our horses happy & healthy.
