Have you heard about the plans for a 32-mile pipeline through Stewart, Houston, and Dickson Counties? TVA wants to replace the coal-burning Cumberland City steam plant with a gas-burning plant; essentially trading one fossil fuel for another. There’s still time to weigh in!

There will be more information about the proposed pipeline project and instructions on how you can leave a comment for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) before they make the heavy decision on whether or not to approve or deny the pipeline application!

Since 2010 there have been 6,950 reported pipeline incidents which equates to 1.7 incidents per day.

In 2020 alone there were over 600 incidents resulting in 12 deaths, 37 injuries, over 300 people had to evacuate their homes, and over $75 million in property damage occurred.

This does not account for property devaluation and the ruining of wells, natural springs, and wildlife.

Right here in our great state of Tennessee!

200,000 gallons of crude oil was spilled due to a leak in the pipeline - and the oil barely missed the state’s largest aquifer.

Unlike an oil pipeline, the proposed would be transporting combustible substances that can easily create an explosion that will surely result in extreme property damage and loss of life.

More than 200,000 gallons of crude oil leaked in the rural town of Henderson last week.

An amendment proposed by Tennessee lawmakers would prevent all local governments – rural and urban – from having a say in where crude oil, petroleum, and methane gas pipelines and tanks are built.

If passed, the amendment would allow out-of-state fossil fuel companies to construct pipelines near schools, homes, drinking water sources, and other places that are currently protected from oil and gas infrastructure.

The proposed pipeline (Cumberland Pipeline) is going to span 32 miles with the vast majority going through Dickson County.
It will be transporting compounds to make natural gas which make the pipeline significantly more dangerous than an oil pipeline should anything go wrong.
In fact, anything within the “high impact zone” will quite literally become extinct within 5 seconds of a rupture or incident - a home, humans, and animals would be wiped away - obviously not enough time to rush to get out of the way.
Anything within the “evacuation zone” will be at extremely high risk of injury or death if not exited immediately.

TVA is heading up this project and Kinder Morgan, a multi-hundred billion dollar corporation is set to win the contract for the work.
Only Kinder Morgan, TVA, and LOCAL politicians will win if this project goes through - yes, LOCAL politicians that make backdoor deals with the TVA and Kinder Morgan.

This isn’t even for a primary pipeline but rather a backup pipeline that would be used during parts of the summer and sometimes during the winter.

The impact from this will be devastating to thousands in Dickson County not only putting thousands of citizen’s health, safety, and life at risk while also devaluing their property, but it will put at risk the life and safety of wildlife, water ways, wells, and natural springs.
