May Student of the Month – Theme: Grit

What is grit you ask? Well, Grit is a positive personality trait defined as the combination of passion and perseverance toward long-term goals - at least that’s what Google says!

Our Students of the Month have shown that even when the school year nears an end they will continue working hard and being the wonderful humans we know they are! Summer is right around the corner but these students are still locked in and giving it their all everyday!

We want to take a moment to thank all of the students this year who have joined us for Student of the Month Lunch! We could not be prouder of the people you are all becoming!

Culver community elementary teachers and staff enjoyed pancakes 🥞 sausage, grapes and cookies for lunch on Monday. Lions Dan-chef and Lynn-server were happy to share their time with the teachers.
Reagan Snyder, a third grade student at the school facilitated this event for the staff to celebrate a special lunch during Teacher appreciation week. AT the beginning of this school year Reagan knew exactly what she wanted to do for the staff. Each staff member was presented a certificate of appreciation that included positive traits from their students.

Reagan is a frequent visitor to the monthly students’ breakfasts hosted by the culver Lions 🦁 club at the Depot.

It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who make the Culver Lions what it is.

To all of our Lions, Lionesses, and every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart—thank you. Your dedication to serving others, supporting local causes, and strengthening our community does not go unnoticed.

Because of you, we’re able to make a real difference right here in Culver.

April’s theme for our Culver Lions Club time with students was all about understanding and managing emotions 💛

From learning how to feel and deal, to staying calm, patient, and kind, these students showed what it means to handle challenges, adapt to change, and express their feelings in positive ways. We talked about how smiles are contagious, how helping others matters, and how using calm words can make a big difference.

And they truly brought it to life.

These students were well-mannered, enthusiastic, and clearly enjoy each other’s company. They showed great emotional awareness, shared openly, and persevered instead of getting frustrated — all while being, as we like to say… cool as a cucumber 🥒

Also worth noting… they were some hearty eaters, with a very strong appreciation for grapes 🍇

A big thank you to the teachers and staff for their continued support and dedication. It shows in these kids every day.

The Culver Lions Club is proud to recognize Art Awakened by Suzi Q as our Organization of the Year! 🎨

Since opening in July 2025, Suzi has created a space that brings creativity and community together. From her walk-in ceramic painting studio to hands-on workshops and a boutique featuring local artists, her shop has quickly become something special in Culver.

Many of us also know Suzi through Suzi Q’s Embroidery, where she has provided our club’s logo gear for years. Lion Eddi Langenberg had the honor of presenting the award—having seen firsthand the impact Suzi has made as both a business owner and community supporter.

Suzi pours her heart into everything she does, and we’re proud to celebrate the welcoming, creative space she’s built. We look forward to watching her continue to grow and thrive for years to come! 💛

The Culver Lions Club is honored to name Kyle Elliott as our Citizen of the Year! 👏

For 33 years, Kyle has led the Culver Building Trades program, shaping the futures of hundreds of students. Beyond the classroom, his years of coaching and mentorship at Culver Community High School have left a lasting impact on generations of graduates.

Dan Adams presented Kyle with the award, sharing memories of Culver’s past and recognizing the incredible legacy of the Elliott family—including Kyle’s father, John Elliott, a past recipient of this same honor.

In accepting the award, Kyle expressed gratitude and credited Bob Trigg for laying the foundation of the Building Trades program. He also shared a bit of wisdom he continues to pass on:
“It’s always easier to slow up than to speed up… and when working with kids, it’s easier to lighten up than to tighten up.”

Thank you, Kyle, for your dedication, leadership, and the lasting difference you’ve made in our community. 💙

March Student of the Month – Theme: Inclusion

March Madness? Not this time… 😊
This month, we’re celebrating something even more meaningful—Inclusion.

Our Students of the Month truly embody what it means to make others feel seen, valued, and welcome. These students are great friends who go out of their way to include everyone—whether it’s inviting someone sitting alone to join them at lunch, making sure no one is left out at recess, or simply offering a kind smile.

They demonstrate empathy in action—comforting classmates when they’re sad, reaching out to others, and creating a space where everyone belongs. We were especially inspired by two students who are learning sign language to better communicate with their classmates—what an incredible example of compassion and effort.

Inside the classroom, outside at recess, during lunch, and in small groups—these students consistently show what inclusion looks like. They don’t just talk about kindness… they live it.

As Maya Angelou so beautifully said:
“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

And these students? They make people feel welcomed, valued, and included every single day.

We also have to mention—this group came in happy, smiling, well-behaved, and well-mannered… and yes, one student even managed to eat 10 pancakes! 🥞 Now that’s impressive!

Congratulations to our March Students of the Month—we are so proud of you for leading with kindness and inclusion. 💙

What a great way to spend a Valentine’s Day morning! ❤️🥞

Saturday’s Culver Lions Club Pancake Breakfast was a wonderful success. The coffee was hot, the pancakes were flowing, and the room was full of great conversation and even better company. We had an incredible turnout, and it was great seeing so many familiar faces from the community come out to enjoy breakfast together.

Everything ran smoothly from start to finish — you could say there was a little extra spark in the air that morning — and we’re grateful for everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make the event such a great time.

Most importantly, everyone left full, happy, and ready to enjoy the rest of a beautiful Valentine’s Day. Thank you, Culver, for your continued support! 🦁

🥞❄️ The griddles are hot and breakfast is ready!

The Culver Lions Pancake Breakfast is underway, and Leo the Lion is looking sharp — the ice sculpture turned out just perfect! 🦁✨

Cold from sledding this morning? Is there still enough snow? Come warm up with us! We’ve got a hot breakfast, great company, and a perfect way to spend your winter morning with friends and neighbors.
