The Society is pleased to welcome Mr. John Zeglis to introduce us to the Huffington Library's display of his extraordinary collection of autographs of Presidents and Vice Presidents of the United States, all written while the person involved was in office.

In order to avoid conflict with the LakeFest Parade, this program will be at 2 PM this coming Saturday, July 18, in the Culver Academies' Huffington Library (the nearest parking lots are at the Schrage Center and at the Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center, at the west end of the Eppley Auditorium).

Please join us for this rare chance to see history up close! The talk and exhibit are free and open to the public.

(Our next event is the annual fundraiser, Saturday, August 8, at 7:30 PM, featuring vocalist and composer Olivia van Goor, who will present a program of popular favorites. We still have a few tickets available--call 219-649-0019, or bring your checkbook with you this Saturday.)

July 4, 1976 -- the actual day of America's bicentennial -- saw the dedication of the veterans' memorial in Culver's town cemetery on South Main Street, with a grand parade to the site, as well as (of course) fireworks. Culver's businesses (in this case two local pharmacies, Mr. T's and Hook's Drugs) got into the bicentennial spirit as well!

Just in time for the 4th (and we'll have more to come!), here's a link to the video from last Saturday's presentation on "Bicentennial Culver," which not only focused on the US bicentennial year of 1976 and how Culver celebrated during that period, but also past celebrations of milestone historical years in the history of the town, the state, and the country!

A live presentation by Jeff Kenney and the Very Rev. Dr. John Hough...
