The Human Library - Los Angeles

06/18/2026

Thank you Superbloom for hosting The Human Library last night. Our stellar title selections ranged from Policeman to ‘11 Years Homeless on the streets of LA’ ~ another extraordinary opportunity to be curious, listen, ask questions and experience our book volunteers who courageously share their lived experience. Thanks also goes to collaborators Cross Cultural Expressions and Kultur Mercado

Where can you find the Human Library in the US?

The Human Library is an organization spread out all over the world. If you’re looking to join an event, we have local Book Depots and Publishing Partners across the country.

In the US, we have several Book Depots:
In California, you can find us in Los Angeles and around the Bay Area.

In Indiana, you can find us in Central
Indiana and Fort Wayne.

In New York, there’s a Depot in New York City.

And soon, we’re opening a new Depot in
Cincinnati, Ohio.

If you’re not in those areas, we have local Publishing Partners nationwide. We usually partner with local institutions such as schools, universities, and libraries. You can reach out to an institution in your area if you’re interested in bringing the Human Library to your community.

Through the Human Library Online platform, you can read Books anywhere and choose the Title you’re interested in. Here, you can from all over the world.

Welcome to the Human Library!

Human Library Organization and CBS

CBS SUNDAY MORNING

At a very special library in Copenhagen, Denmark, the “books” being checked out are actual human beings.

The Human Library, founded 26 years ago, offers 30-minute conversations with living books on a wealth of subjects, and is now available in 80 countries (including the United States) and online.

CBS News chief medical correspondent talked with the library’s cofounder Ronni Abergel, and checked out three unique books on the topics of schizophrenia, refugees, and Greenland.

Thank you for sharing our stories and organization.
