As Fairfax Lodge No. 43 A. F. & A. M. continues its renovations from the July 2025 fire, we extend our sympathy to the fine people of Zandra’s Taqueria in Culpeper this morning. As a Lodge, our membership has met there for multiple working lunches and social events, and we strongly encourage the community to support them through this horrific fire event. Again, special thanks to all of our public safety officials for their response this morning.

Today has been an incredibly difficult day for the Zandra’s

Early this morning, a fire caused catastrophic damage to our building in Culpeper . While the restaurant is a total loss, we are grateful beyond words that no one was injured and that everyone appears to be safe.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the Culpeper Fire Department, emergency responders, law enforcement, and all of the agencies that responded. Their professionalism, courage, and tireless efforts helped contain a very difficult situation, and we are incredibly thankful for everything they did.

We also want to thank the Culpeper community for the support you have shown us over the past two years. Since opening our doors, we have been welcomed with open arms, and today the calls, messages, and words of encouragement from so many people have meant more than we can express.

Right now, our focus is on supporting our team members and their families as we work through what comes next. We do not yet know what the future holds, and there are many questions that still need to be answered.

While today is heartbreaking, we are thankful that everyone is safe. We will take this one step at a time, and we will share updates as they become available.

Thank you, Culpeper, for your support, your prayers, and your kindness.

The Grand Commandery of Virginia is saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Knight Jay Cotner earlier this morning.

A Past Grand Commander of Virginia, Sir Knight Cotner’s life was marked by faithful service, steady leadership, and a deep commitment to the principles of our Order. His contributions to Templary and to the Sir Knights of this Commonwealth leave behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

In this time of sorrow, we are reminded that the bonds we share extend beyond this life, and we take comfort in the promise of that Eternal Asylum above, where the weary find rest and the faithful are received.

Details regarding a Celebration of Life will be shared as they become available.

We ask all Sir Knights and their families to keep Sir Knight Cotner and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
