Hello Pathkeepers Family. It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you that our Pathkeepers Vice-President, co-founder, elder, and teacher, Barney Bush, has journeyed home. He loved working with kids so much. Here are a few highlights from over the years at Pathkeepers Native Youth Leadership Camp. Please keep his family and community in your prayers, and stay safe.

Hi Pathkeepers! Some students at Sherando High School in Wi******er, VA have started a petition to change their "warrior" mascot. Here is the link if you would like to sign and share it with your networks. https://www.change.org/p/sherando-high-school-administration-native-americans-are-people-not-mascots?signed=true Some of us Pathkeepers staff and youth were in discussions in 2016 with this school's administration and school board to urge them to change their mascot. They didn't do anything. These students have picked up the effort. Please help support them! Also, as word of this petition got out, a counter petition is now on change.org to keep the mascot and it now has more signatures, but it is close. Here's a picture of their warrior mascot who comes out at every football game on a horse. The school says that their warrior mascot and the name Sherando are to honor a Iroquois historical figure (Chief Sherando) who was in northern Virginia. Doesn't look particularly Haudenosaunee to me. Thank you for your support!
