‼️Important Update: Transition of Leadership and Operational Changes‼️
Dear NBOC Partners and Community,
I am writing to inform you that I am stepping down from my position as Program Director of New Beginnings Outreach Center (NBOC), effective August 26, 2026.
Given the current climate and the evolving changes within our community and among our partner agencies, I am left with no choice but to take this step. Those who work closely with us may have noticed that my availability to be present at NBOC has been significantly reduced, and I am unable to perform the duties required for this role.
During this transition, Khaleb will be stepping up to take over the program director responsibilities. I will continue to provide as much support and guidance to him as possible behind the scenes. Additionally, I am not leaving NBOC entirely; I will remain on the Board of Directors during this interim period until the transition is complete.
We have experienced a reduction in our flat funding this year. This is entirely due to broader funding structures—as more organizations apply for the same pools of money, the available funds are stretched thinner. Alongside this grant reduction, we have also seen a significant drop-off in community financial donations and private grants that have become more rigid, which further impacts our operational budget.
We are currently down the volunteers who previously assisted us with grant writing. Additionally, we are short an active driver for the time being. My own presence at the center has had to scale back from working 12-hour days (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM), three days a week, to just one day a week. This significant reduction in our active workforce directly impacts our overall staff capacity, limiting our ability to deliver, improve, or expand our current programs and services to the community.
This leadership change comes at a pivotal moment, as NBOC was scheduled to move to our new location in the upcoming weeks. In addition to the physical move, we are navigating several logistical and financial challenges that require us to be more strategic with our resources. Due to this, we have decided that this move would not be financially responsible. The current location will be scaling back over the next couple of weeks and all in person services will cease by October 1, 2026. We will still be offering some limited Community or Street Outreach Services, and that will be re-evaluated through October into November.
To accommodate our current budget and shifting volunteer/staff capacities, we are adjusting how we operate. Over the next few weeks, please anticipate updates regarding:
On-Demand walk-in for Coordinated Entry
Due to financial constraints, we have made the decision not to move forward with the lease on the previously approved location. It seems financially and logistically irresponsible to utilize our very limited resources on renting a new or additional space at this time.
Shift Away from In-Person/On-Demand Services
Because we are currently down a driver and managing reduced resources, we can no longer provide in-person/on-demand services except when staff and time allow. All case management, client intakes, transportation, and other specialized services must be scheduled by appointment in advance.
Procedures & Guidelines
General day-to-day operational guidelines will be updated to ensure we remain efficient, safe, and sustainable. We ask your patience as we move towards adapting our current policies and guidelines to fit this model.
I want to thank everyone for your consistent and unwavering support. While it is difficult to scale back right now, these adjustments are necessary so that we can recalibrate. By navigating these changes mindfully today, we are actively working toward building better long-term capacity and stronger, more sustainable services for the individuals we serve.
We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued dedication as we navigate these major milestones together. Khaleb and the leadership team will share specific details regarding the official move-out dates, the new designated schedules, and services that can be offered. Thank you for your ongoing support of NBOC and the community we serve.
Please feel free to share the information with anyone you feel needs to know, including other agencies and organizations.
Warm regards,
Faith
