I’d like to know how many “close contact exposures” actually result in Covid-19 transmissions to other students. I just had one out of school for the minimum possible, which was three days, and that was with a rapid test.

Are close contact exposures resulting in transmissions? We should have some data at this point.

The Modern Dilemma

09/28/2021

If teachers aren’t paid for covid absence; does that encourage them to come to school sick if they depend on a paycheck like most in our community? We can’t have it both ways. Don’t hype the plan and take the opposite in your actions.

It’s ok. Kids will be kids:

The new version of the Phase III Mitigation Plan reinforced the mandates on public transportation in an attempt to make sure transportation didn’t undermine the rest of the plan. Unfortunately the mandate doesn’t reflect the reality that is the child who was crawling on the bus floor to get to a different seat for the last two days. It’s ok though. Kids will be kids. They will crawl on bus floors. Just plan accordingly.

It was brought to attention that counting covid cases per school doesn’t make sense if you mix students on a bus. Miscalculation leads to unnecessary stricter mandates. The plan’s stance is “the mandate” which is some sort of utopian bus ride where kids don’t behave like kids, thus making it “low risk”. I call BS. It’s ok though. Kids will be kids. They will continue to horseplay on the bus regardless of policy. Just plan accordingly.

Please don’t ask transportation to change human nature. Acknowledge reality and count cases accordingly. It’s a simple solution.

I have one child that hasn’t been to school in over two weeks. I have another, over one week. All over possibly unnecessary mandates, born out of flawed policy, a failure to accept reality and a solution that reflects it. But it’s not ok. These kids aren’t being aloud to be kids anymore and there’s no expectation that they are responsible for changing human nature. The behavior of children.

What’s the point of this group? Common Sense for Culpeper Schools. To stop some of the nonsense and fix the issues. There’s nothing we can do is a horrible answer.

Please don’t mistake posts about transportation, lunches, denial of lunches, nursing etc. as whining or just gripes. The intent is to bring reality back to school, policy making that reflects reality, and highlight what I would call the many symptoms of a common underlying cause. They’re just symptoms, but there is a root cause.

There’s also the potential solutions to offer. Many of us can do that job and offer up common sense solutions that make more sense. Through engagement in the process; we can strive to make the student experience the best it can be.

It’s 4:30 🕟 Do you know where your children are?

Don’t bother calling the CCPS administration office. There’s no need for administration while your children are on the bus. (Sarcasm) They’re closed.

Apparently the work day is shorter than an elementary student’s day. 🤦‍♂️

WHY ARE OUR CHILDREN ON THE BUS, BUT THE ADMINISTRATORS GONE? DO THEY NOT OVERSEE THE ENTIRE DAY OR IS THE BUS RIDE TOO LONG FOR THEM?

We type quickly and make typos and grammatical errors all day long on our various devices. That’s all good and most don’t police our grammar too hard. To two too. Lol

BUT MISTAKES IN AN OFFICIAL SCHOOL DOCUMENT LESSEN THE CREDIBILITY OF ITS AUTHORS AND REVIEWERS.

HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE IN YOUR PLANS TO PROTECT US IF YOU CAN’T CATCH BASIC SPELLING AND GRAMMAR MISTAKES?

Does anyone here know what approval process we follow for amending the Phase III mitigation plan?

The plan makes no mention of change control, which seems to be an overall theme throughout the measures being implemented by the plan.

Interestingly we now have text in the plan that refers to buses and close contact, but we failed to update the “Definitions of a(singular) School Setting Exposures(plural)”.

How do we call this such an important plan, have it reviewed by our finest, and end up with typos and grammatical errors galore. I know it seems petit, but with so many approvals, how do we end up with poor work products? In private business, your employment could be put at risk. And aren’t we grading students for this?

Again, it’s petit, but don’t expect us to have faith in what some might feel is the most important plan of their lives right now if the authors can’t spot typos, grammatical errors, and basics like change control.

This is C+ work at best.

Thanks to those who came out to talk! We had a great time and I think the kids did too!

And for those that missed and may have wanted to join us, please do the next time as we begin to influence meaningful change in the community.

We can’t is no longer a valid option. We have and will continue to make a difference.

From this experience I think I’ve learned our voice can be heard. Progress is great and I don’t think anyone is expecting perfection. ✌🏽 ❤️
