🥕 Volunteers Needed: UNIDXS Bodega & Food Pantry 🫐

June Schedule is LIVE! Join the bustling UNIDXS Bodega & Food Pantry in Downtown Sylva and help provide nutritious food and meaningful support for neighbors in our community at no cost to recipients! From stocking shelves to assisting with distribution, every role helps make fresh, healthy food more accessible.

This is just one of many opportunities available in the area to help WCU students, faculty, and staff stay connected and make an impact this summer.

Interested volunteers can find this event (and sign-up link) and other service and educational event opportunities on engage.wcu.edu

Reminder that WCU Staff are eligible for 24 hours of Community Service Leave (CSL) each year. With supervisor approval, those hours can be used to volunteer and make an impact, like supporting the Bodega!

Our Panthertown on the ground staff was out scouting for Tuesday’s workday and found multiple downed trees on Panthertown Valley, Devil’s Elbow, and Riding Ford Trail. We took care of multiple, but left a few of the bigger ones that would’ve taken us a lot of time to cut with a hand saw.

We invite you to come out this upcoming Tuesday for a trail workday in Panthertown at the Cold Mountain Gap Trailhead from 9 AM - 2 PM as we continue working on clearing blowdowns and pruning on the far out section of Riding Ford Trail.

If you want to give back to your public lands and help keep Panthertown’s trails accessible, RSVP using the link in the comments!

Two of our amazing students were able to attend the Citizens Redefined Camp last week at Elon University! This week-long camp is a civic leadership experience for students to explore what it means to show up for their campuses and communities.

Today, we join our community in honoring the memory of the brave individuals who lost their lives in service to our nation❤️💙

Their legacy reminds us of the deepest meaning of service—putting the collective good above self. Wishing you all a peaceful and reflective Memorial Day.
