Cullman County Conservation District

Cullman County Conservation District Working to conserve our natural resources so future generations can enjoy the same Cullman County and Alabama the Beautiful we know and love.

For nearly 80 years, Cullman County Conservation District has committed to conserving Cullman County's natural resources by connecting those who use and work the land to the education, technical know-how , and resources they need. This stewardship revived the landscape from the devastation of the 1930's and continues to improve quality of life for all Alabama citizens. The Cullman County Conservat

ion District is part of a statewide movement in the conservation of Alabama's natural resources: Conserve Alabama. Conserve Alabama is an initiative of the State of Alabama Soil & Water Conservation Committee to re-energize and unite stakeholders in the effort to be good stewards of our land and water. With a growing population and increased demand of resources in the 21st Century, it's more important than ever that we use our resources wisely. Join us to Conserve Alabama.

🌎💚 Earth Day 2026 has kept us busy in the best way!

This week, the Cullman County Soil & Water Conservation District had the joy of celebrating Earth Day with some amazing students across our community.

đź“… Tuesday, April 21
We joined Vinemont School for their Earth Day Celebration and connected with students from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. We shared conservation materials and handed out biodegradable planting cups filled with watermelon seeds—encouraging students to start their own mini gardens at home.

đź“… Wednesday, April 22
Our team spent the day at Cullman City Primary School, where students created their own floral bracelets using live blooms and tape. Their creativity made the day even more special.

We’re grateful for the continued invitations from both Vinemont and Cullman Primary. Celebrating Earth Day with these schools each year is truly a highlight for our team.

🌱💧 Here’s to growing conservation awareness—one student at a time!

Cullman County Soil and Water Conservation District was honored to represent the Cullman area at the Alabama State House for Soil and Water Matters Day 2026.

District Coordinator Kathy Holmes, along with District Supervisors Robert Harbison and Cherrie Haney, spent the day meeting with Cullman‑area legislators to discuss the Alabama Conservation Incentive Program (CIP) and highlight the program’s many accomplishments.

CIP continues to make a meaningful impact by supporting local landowners and strengthening conservation efforts across our community.

We want to thank them all for their time and efforts to support the work of soil and water conservation in Cullman County!

Cullman County Soil and Water Conservation District is grateful to the many teachers, classrooms, libraries, and schools that welcomed us during Read Across America Week. Thanks to their support, we had the opportunity to read to 639 students across Cullman City and Cullman County.

Soil and Water Conservation Districts bring conservation to the classroom by sharing books that highlight the importance of our natural resources—soil, water, land, and the food systems they support. Helping students understand how these resources sustain our communities is at the heart of our mission.
