We’d love to say we show dairy cows strictly for “personal growth.”
But have you seen that belt buckle? 😎

Sure — there’s early mornings, daily care, rinsing, clipping, and 1,200 pounds of attitude on a halter.

There’s leadership built in the barn and responsibility you can’t ignore.

But that shiny hardware?
Yeah… it helps. 🏆

Funny thing is — you come for the buckle…
And stay for the cow, the work ethic, and the person you become along the way. 🐄✨

2026 Cullman County Dairy Show

Dairy Showmanship
Class 4: 16-18 year olds

🥇- Irish Keener

Showmanship Facts:

Teaches Sportsmanship and Resilience: Competition teaches children how to win and lose gracefully. Managing a large, unpredictable animal in front of a crowd also builds resilience; if an animal misbehaves, the child must remain calm and composed to regain control.

Class 3: 14-15 year olds

🥇- Harmony Koehoorn
🥈- Brooke Lynn Mathews

Showmanship Facts:

Develops Communication and Public Speaking: Judges often ask participants questions about their animal's age, breed, or health. This interaction helps children develop the ability to think on their feet, articulate thoughts clearly, and speak confidently to adults and audiences.

Dairy Showmanship
Class 1: 9-11 year olds

🥇- CalieAnn Simmons
🥈- Kole Keener

The youngest kids started our show off and they started it right.

Showmanship Facts:

Judged on the Handler, Not the Animal:
In showmanship classes, the judge evaluates the child's ability to lead, pose, and groom the animal, as well as their overall ring presence. Even if the animal is not of "grand champion" physical quality, a skilled showman can still win based on their technical handling.

On Saturday February 21, our group participated in the Cullman County Beef and Dairy Exposition. This year was the 90th show!

These kids all have to participate in Cullman only 4H and/or FFA clubs.

Unfortunately we couldn’t make both the beef and dairy happen on the same day due to conflicting schedules; but the thrill and excitement was the same.

2026 Show:
8 show kids,
10 show cows (calves, heifers, dry & in milk),
1 judge,
1 4H Agent,
3 official pooper scoopers,
1 Belt-buckle,
And of course those dairy fans rooting them on.

It was a great show.

Make sure you like and follow to see how each division did.
