We are a nonprofit that serves families with children aged 19 and younger with clean, dignified clothing that they can be confident in. Curt's Closet has been created to honor my precious son, Curtis James Wilson, by giving back to the community he so dearly loved and that loved him.

Today’s the day.

Our Back to School event officially begins, and we could not be more excited to welcome families into the showroom all June, July, and the first full week of August. This is our biggest outreach season of the year, and more than 1,500 children will shop with us before school starts back.

Every child who comes in during this event will head into the new school year with a fresh pair of shoes, a backpack, and clothing that helps them feel confident and ready. Appointments fill up fast, and once our in‑person spots are full, the showroom will close to clients until the event wraps up in August.

We will still be able to serve as many families as we can; after all of our in-person appointments fill, our staff will gather your child's clothing and have it ready for you to pick up- no appointment (or hassle) necessary.

We’re ready for a summer full of smiles, new shoes, and helping kids walk into the school year feeling their very best.

Every volunteer spot at Curt's Closet is officially FULL until September, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

Y’all show up for this mission in the most generous ways, and it means more than you know.

As we head into our Back to School season (June, July, and the first week of August), our warehouse heroes step into their busiest, most focused stretch of the year. This is when they’re sorting, folding, and picking clothing for more than 1,600 children, moving with a rhythm and purpose that keeps everything flowing smoothly for the families we serve.

To protect that pace and give our staff the space they need to shine at full volume, we limit both group and individual volunteers during this time.

Because of your incredible support of our mission, every available spot is filled until September 2026.

We’ll begin reaching out to our prospective volunteers again in August to schedule shifts for the latter half of 2026, and we can’t WAIT to welcome you back into the building.

Thank you for loving this mission, loving our kids, and loving our team so well. Your willingness to serve is one of the greatest gifts we receive.

At Curt’s Closet, our client families are welcome to shop with us twice per calendar year.

How and when you use those visits is completely up to you, but please remember that visits used for Season Swap, Back-to-School shopping, or emergent pulls all count toward your yearly visits.

Many of our families choose to save one visit for our annual Back-to-School event so their children can start the school year strong with clothing, new shoes, and a backpack.

These appointment spots fill quickly each year, so if you’ve been saving a visit for Back-to-School shopping, we encourage you to call today to reserve your spot!

Our fall clothing will begin hitting the showroom floor in October. If cooler-weather essentials are on your list, we’re happy to go ahead and schedule those appointments too.

One of the easiest ways to make sure your visits are used in the most helpful and intentional way for your family is to schedule your next appointment before leaving your current one. We’re always happy to help you plan ahead!

Happy Birthday to Theresa Cox!

Today we’re celebrating Theresa Cox, the incredible Director of Cullman’s First Priority Ministry and one of the brightest lights pouring into students across our county. Theresa shows up for kids in a way that can’t be matched with faith, encouragement, and a heart that makes young people feel seen and supported every single week. While she may be shifting from her position at First Priority, her impact will be felt for some time to come.

We’re extra lucky at Curt’s Closet because we have gotten to share our office with her. Her joy, her energy, and her love for the next generation has made our space better every day.

Help us wish Theresa the happiest birthday. We’re grateful for the time we spent with her and the way she has served, lead, and lifted up the students of Cullman County.

She’s a gift to this community, and we’re cheering her on today and in the future.

From the laughter to the love in the room, Clothed in Cullman was something truly special this year. Every table, every conversation, every moment reminded us why this community shows up the way it does. You could feel the generosity, the joy, and the shared belief that every child in Cullman deserves to feel confident and cared for.

We’re grateful for the hands that served, the hearts that gave, and the friends who filled the room with so much warmth. Nights like this don’t just happen, they’re built by a community that believes in lifting one another up.

And thanks to the incredibly talented Sharon Tucker, we get to relive it all. She captured the spirit of the evening with such care and heart, preserving the little moments that tell the big story of why this mission matters.
