We love Willola Farms on Peach Tree Lane❤️❤️❤️
Our peach trees developed leaf curl and after three years of trying we said goodbye to our two peach trees. We faithfully tried all organic resources, but it wasn’t enough. We have replanted peaches that are more disease resistant, and hope in a few years we can begin to see a bounty again. Still, local peach tree professionals say a disease resistant tree is no guarantee😩
In the meantime, we are fortunate to have two other local peach tree growers to help us wih our peach needs, lol. We canned some peaches for some winter pies and made some jam and still have more for eating, and another pie🥧🥰
I also visited my friends at From The Heart in Kamiah for some huckleberries, and my annual Judy Oatman huckleberry birthday pie 🥧🥰
Tomorrow, I will meet another local harvester for blackberries ❤️
Yes, I probably could just pick them, but we strongly believe in supporting other local families and farmers…and maybe a little lazy about the blackberries, and not wanting all the scratches from picking.
We are discussing creating a new blackberry and raspberry patch that is more easily accessible. In the meantime, we appreciate everyone who is supporting local sustainability ❤️☮️
Did I mention, we have so many eggs??🥚🥚🥚🥚
We have a double-sided coop for new hens and our older still producing pets. Oh my…
All of our seeds this year came from a local farm and we are really loving the purple peas and green beans and the huge candy roaster winter squash. It does make a difference to find local sources for seeds.
With a lot of hard work and building a local network, it is possible to create a sustainable community.
