FOUNDATION FRIDAY BOARD SPOTLIGHT: MEET MEGAN BOEHL

A Cuero native and longtime community volunteer, Megan Boehl is proud to serve on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board.

Megan is a Branch Office Administrator with Edward Jones and a proud Cuero High School graduate and Texas State University Bobcat. She and her husband, Kelby, have called Cuero home for the past 15 years and are raising their three children, Nate, Caleb, and Wren. Much of their family time is spent cheering their kids on at football, baseball, softball, volleyball, and other activities.

Megan and her family are members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and are involved in 4-H and other community activities. She also serves as a fitness instructor at Bfit Cuero Wellness Center, where she enjoys helping others prioritize their health and wellness.

Megan chose to serve on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board because she believes in the importance of a thriving community hospital and ensuring access to quality healthcare for local families. Through her work with Bfit Cuero Wellness Center, she has also seen firsthand the positive impact Cuero Health has on our community.

Outside of work and family activities, Megan enjoys playing mahjong, playing golf with the girls, spending time on the river, and making memories with family and friends.

We’re grateful to have Megan’s time, energy, and commitment to Cuero Health and our community!

FOUNDATION FRIDAY BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: MEET MARTIN LESKE

This week, we’re spotlighting Martin Leske, a longtime Cuero resident and entrepreneur. Martin graduated from Cuero High School in 2000 before moving back to Cuero in 2011. He and his wife, Kailey, married in 2012 and have two children, Slone and Stratton.

Martin graduated from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Finance & Economics in 2004 and an MBA in 2016. He is an accomplished entrepreneur who has started six businesses and successfully exited three. In 2026, he founded CSSTL Group, which acquires and grows service companies with the goal of creating successful businesses together where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Martin chose to serve on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board to give back to the community that built him. He recognizes the important role Cuero Health plays as one of the county’s largest employers and believes supporting the hospital helps both strengthen healthcare in our community and contribute to the economic engine of DeWitt County.

Martin stays active in the community through his service as a Cuero Regional Hospital Board Trustee, Cuero Community Foundation board member, and member of Lifeway Baptist Church. Outside of work, he enjoys auctioneering and being a ringman at auctions.

We’re grateful to have Martin’s entrepreneurial spirit, business experience and commitment to Cuero serving on our board!

❤️ Heart Health Starts Early! ❤️

Cuero Regional Hospital recently provided 37 free pediatric cardiac screenings for 8th-grade students at Cuero Junior High, helping identify possible heart concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed—especially in young athletes.

These screenings include a health history, non-invasive EKG, advanced stethoscope exam and review by a qualified healthcare provider. We’re grateful to the DeWitt Medical Foundation and Troy Medical’s Rural Health Hub for helping make this important program possible!

FOUNDATION FRIDAY BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: MEET BRANDON COWEY

This week, we’re highlighting Brandon Cowey, a lifelong Cuero community member and proud local business owner.

Brandon and his wife, Haley, are raising their three children, Caroline, Eliza and Griffin, in the community they love. Both Brandon and Haley are local small business owners, making their own mark in Cuero. Brandon owns and operates DeWitt Poth & Son, LLC, a family-owned, full-service office equipment and supply company with locations in Cuero and Yoakum that has been serving South Texas for generations. Haley is the owner of Laura Haley Photography, a local photography studio.

Having grown up in Cuero, Brandon is grateful for the opportunity to raise his family here and be an active part of the community. He joined the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board because he believes in giving back to the community that has given so much to his family and helping support the continued growth and success of local healthcare.

Outside of work and his community involvement, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family and friends and playing golf whenever he gets the chance.

FOUNDATION FRIDAY BOARD SPOTLIGHT - MEET JOE OLIVE

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Joe Olive, one of our dedicated DeWitt Medical Foundation Board members!

Joe is a CFP® and Head of Research at Sather Financial Group in Victoria. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Master’s in Wealth Management from Columbia University.

Before entering the financial industry, Joe spent 10 years in the U.S. Air Force Intelligence Community and deployed to Iraq from 2006–2009. He was awarded the U.S. Air Force Combat Action Medal and the U.S. Army Combat Action Badge.

Joe’s connection to Cuero comes through his wife, Cassie (formerly Krueger), a Cuero native. The couple has been married for more than 18 years and has three children — Madeline, Ryan and Theodore.

Joe’s journey to the Foundation Board started during COVID-19. Wanting to do something to show his appreciation for the hospital staff, Joe and his family bought pizzas from La Bella Tavola and delivered them to the hospital. They later provided breakfast for the entire staff. That gesture eventually led to an invitation to serve on the Foundation Board.

Joe says he quickly realized just how much the Foundation does to support Cuero Health and was impressed by the way a small community comes together to support an institution that means so much to so many.

Fun fact: Joe says that, as a city kid, the first time he ever changed a tire was outside the wire in Iraq — on the Humvee he was driving! 😄

We’re so glad to have Joe’s experience, perspective and commitment to our community on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board!

We’re excited to welcome Kahlei Villarreal as one of the newest members of the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board!

A Cuero native, Kahlei is happy to be back home with her husband, Gabe, and their three-year-old daughter. After earning her degree in marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Kahlei built a career in the events industry. She currently serves as a Senior Client Solutions Manager with Freeman, where she produces trade shows and conventions and works with associations across the country to plan and execute their conferences.

After spending time away, returning to Cuero has given Kahlei an even greater appreciation for the community she grew up in. She has always enjoyed being involved and finding ways to give back, and she is excited for the opportunity to serve in a way that supports the health and well-being of DeWitt County.

Kahlei looks forward to working alongside others who share her passion for making DeWitt County a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.

Outside of work, Kahlei enjoys spending time with her family, staying involved in the community, playing golf and mahjong — and, these days, some of her favorite moments are simply watching her daughter grow up.

We’re excited to have another familiar face from our community joining the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board — welcome, Kassie Rath!

A lifelong Cuero resident, Kassie graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Healthcare Administration and spent 14 years working in the hospital setting before joining her family’s business and helping expand the Cuero Pecan House Café.

Kassie and her husband, James, have been married for 18 years and are proud parents to two children, Makenzi, a junior at Cuero High School, and Chandler, a freshman at CHS.

Kassie is proud to serve on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board because she believes the Foundation plays an important role in supporting the medical services available in our community. She looks forward to giving back to the community she has always called home and is proud to raise her family here.

Outside of work, Kassie enjoys supporting her children in their activities and traveling with her family.

We’re excited to have Kassie join the Foundation Board and look forward to the experience, passion and community spirit she brings to the team. Welcome, Kassie!

Please join us in welcoming another one of our newest DeWitt Medical Foundation Board Members, Stanley Kelley!

Stanley was raised in Cuero, and although he spent more than 40 years away, he always considered Cuero home. He recently returned to the community and is enjoying being back home, spending time with family and helping on the family ranch.

A proud Texas A&M graduate, Stanley earned his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Science, specializing in beef cattle, nutrition and meat science. He spent 32 years at Sam Houston State University, serving as Animal Science Program Leader and Department Head for the School of Agricultural Sciences. Upon his retirement in 2025, he was honored as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus.

Stanley and his wife, Debbie, enjoy spending time with their three children and six grandchildren, with number seven arriving soon! They also love traveling abroad, exploring history and culture, and learning about agriculture and food systems around the world. Stanley is passionate about youth development and serves as superintendent for youth events at the State Fair, as well as the Waco, San Antonio and Houston livestock shows.

Stanley brings a genuine passion for rural healthcare and the future of our community. He is committed to helping ensure our area has the facilities and healthcare providers needed to serve local families.

We are excited to have Stanley back home and look forward to the knowledge, experience and dedication he brings to the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board. Welcome, Stanley! We’re glad to have you!

We are excited to introduce Suggie Mayfield, one of our newest members of the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board!

Born and raised in Cuero, Suggie has a deep connection to the community and the people who call it home. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Health and spent 10 years working as an athletic trainer in high schools before stepping away to focus on raising her family.

Suggie has been married to Arlin Mayfield for 18 years, and together they have two children, Turner, a junior at Cuero High School, and Taylor, an eighth grader at Cuero Junior High.

Today, Suggie owns and operates TQMS Quality Assurance, an oilfield quality assurance company her father founded more than 30 years ago.

Suggie is passionate about serving her community and believes the DeWitt Medical Foundation plays an important role in strengthening healthcare in our area. She is honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Foundation Board and looks forward to making a positive impact in the community she loves.

When she isn't working or serving the community, you'll most likely find Suggie chasing her kids around and cheering them on at their many sporting events!
