A big word of thanks to all who donated plants or volunteered to make the fourth Crystal Plant Sale a success. This year’s event was held on May 22nd, at the newly renovated Becker Park. A total of $2,000 was raised, all of which will support Crystal parks, along with the annual Arbor Day tree give away. There was a great variety among the 1,000 plants that were donated. Most were perennials, divided from people’s home gardens, which will in turn will enhance the lawns and gardens of others within the community.
The plant sale was sponsored by the Crystal Fund, a nonprofit organization that works to improve parks and open spaces within the City of Crystal. The plant sale, along with “Cheers to Crystal”, a beer tasting event, are the two fund raisers that it sponsors. In addition to raising funds, both of these events actively engage people to enrich their community.
