Jadey Martin, granddaughter of Chautauqua Garden Club member Sharron White, delivered a July Act of Kindness to Mary Ellen Albritton. Mary Ellen is past president, past secretary, a charter member, and was an active member of CGC. She still enjoys weeding in her yard, and bird watching. We appreciate and are very thankful for her many years of service to CGC and her community.

⚠️ MARL remains at critical capacity as we continue receiving an overwhelming number of animals each week.

Bo is a 2-3-year-old Collie/Aussie mix who has been waiting for a home since June 23. This handsome boy is looking for an active family that understands herding breeds. Collies and Australian Shepherds are intelligent, athletic dogs that thrive when given a job to do. They need regular exercise, mental stimulation, companionship, and consistent structure, not just a backyard. Their beautiful coats also require routine brushing to prevent matting and manage shedding. A fenced yard is required for Bo, though exceptions may be made for exceptionally strong applications. Breed experience is a plus. His adoption fee is $130 and includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, and a microchip. Collie and Aussie owners, what’s one thing you wish more people knew before bringing a herding breed home?

Friday, June 26, Tomato Festival Week, it was so appropriate to dedicate an area at the Pollinators Garden at Chautauqua Park in loving memory of an extremely special lady. Becky Neal Dionne was a faithful Chautauqua Club member and served as president in 2021-2022. As an employee of Crystal Springs Parks and Recreation and working faithfully at the front desk of Chautauqua Visitors Center, Becky always had a welcoming smile and a wealth of information on the history of Crystal Springs. Born and reared in Crystal Springs, her love and roots for the City of Crystal Springs ran deep. A plaque and benches were placed in her remembrance. Her beloved sister, Lilli Mar Lee, daughter Courtney Bates, and grandson, Bennett Bates, attended the dedication service along with Chautauqua Garden members. Also, attending were Lilli Mar’s husband, Chuck, and their son and grandson, Jordan and Weston. Following the dedication given by Karen Clower and Sally Garland, Nan Harris gave the invocation.

Chautauqua Garden Club members assisted with the Crystal Springs Library Reading Program on Thursday, June 25th. Children of all ages enjoyed “Bubbles, Books, and Dinosaurs”. The expressions of happiness on the faces of young librarians made this service to our library so worth while.

Chautauqua Garden Club sponsored Ruth Ann Greer in the annual Crystal Springs 2026-2027 Tomato Queen Contest. Ruth Ann is the granddaughter of Angie Greer who is a longtime faithful member of the CGC. Ruth Ann is a beautiful and smart young lady, and we were proud to sponsor her.

Congratulations to Seniya Brent on being crowned Miss Tomato Queen who will represent Crystal Springs well.
