🎉 Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders!

This past Wednesday, June 10th, the Kings Bay - Crystal River Rotary Club proudly recognized the exceptional young leaders of our community by awarding this year's “Service Above Self” scholarships!

A massive thank you to our selection committee, Tom Gotterup, Stan Groff, Will Lucas, Glenn Parker, and Margaret Parsons, for their hard work in evaluating these inspiring applicants. Because of their commitment, we are able to support students who truly embody the spirit of Rotary! Join us in celebrating our 2026 scholarship recipients:

None of this would be possible without YOU! We want to extend a huge thank you to our incredible community for your continued support of the Stone Crab Jam Music Festival. The "Jam" is the primary source of funding for these scholarships and our other community support donations throughout the year. 🙌 A huge thank you to Mary White, Executive Director of Nature Coast Ministries, for delivering an incredibly moving and insightful presentation to our club on May 27th!

Nature Coast Ministries does phenomenal work here in Citrus County, particularly through their vital free dental clinic, which provides essential oral healthcare to low-income individuals in our community who need it most. 🦷✨

To show our deepest gratitude and support for this life-changing mission, the Kings Bay Rotary Club was honored to present Mary with a financial contribution check on behalf of our members. This past Wednesday (May 13th), we had an extraordinary King's Bay Rotary Club meeting. United Way Director George Schmalstig kicked off the presentation, explaining his agency's role in funding the HUD-VASH (HUD–Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) program in Citrus County. The United Way acts as the pass-through organization for funds from Rotary directed to the HUD-VASH program. Then, Iris Wilsek, the leader of the program, explained in further detail how it works. The striking thing to me is how many wrap-around services, including case management, are provided to at-risk or homeless veterans. Iris had a couple of her staff with her, including old friend and former Kings Bay Rotarian, Ed Wilsek. It was great to see Ed again!
