The Chippewa Sno-Kats Trail Club, Inc.

The Chippewa Sno-Kats Trail Club, Inc. Snowmobile, ORV and ATV Iron County The Chippewa Sno-Kats Trail Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sports of snowmobiling and ATV/ORVing.

We incorporated in 1996 and hold meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at the VFW in Crystal Falls, Michigan. We maintain and groom the trails throughout the year, providing you with an enjoyable user experience. Trailhead: The Chippewa Sno-Kats Trailhead is located at 9 Superior Avenue in Crystal Falls, MI. It can be reached either via Superior Avenue, or around back through the alley be

hind Ted's Service Center (look for the large, red Quonset Hut where we store our snowmobile trail groomers). You will find plenty of parking for your vehicles and trailers. Full access to all of our trails is available from this point, with connecting trails to the entire Upper Peninsula. There is a map sign on site and Porta-Jons are available throughout the year now. Carry-along trail maps are available for $2.00 at most businesses in the area. Snowmobilers: We have over 100 miles of groomed trails. We offer some amazing scenery as well as plenty of wildlife - Get some of what Iron County has to offer! Stay at our local hotels/motels/lodges and eat at any number of bars/restaurants. ATV's/ORV's: Trail conditions are really great here in Iron County!! The 57 mile loop of trails that connects Crystal Falls west to Iron River and Iron River southeast toward Florence Wi. and then back north to Crystal Falls is now part of The State of Michigan ATV/ORV program. The Chippewa Sno-Kats Trail Club Inc. is the trail grant sponsor and is able to have the trail graded and maintained with grant funds through the program. This trail also connects with the Mi-Trale trail that heads west out of Iron River to Watersmeet and beyond to Marenisco. It also connects with other Mi-Trale trails that head in all directions in the western U.P.! Iron County has also opened all county roads to ATV/ORV riding so, places to go and things to see are nearly limitless!! There are waterfalls and backroad trails and 2 tracks to explore along the way! Also on this loop are connecting locations to the ATV trails in Florence County Wisconsin. When riding through Crystal Falls, watch for the detour around the campground. A snowmobile trail goes through the campground, but ATV's are not allowed. The City of Crystal Falls has provided an approved route along city streets to get around the campground. Watch for the signs, single file as far to the right as possible and at a max. speed of 25 m.p.h. This is now truly a great place to ride!! A last item to report on: Trail permits for both Wisconsin and Michigan are REQUIRED when crossing State lines. We will keep you advised if that changes. We are members of the South Central UP Snowmobile Council and the Michigan Snowmobile & ORV Association ( www.msasnow.org ) and have members that regularly attend their meetings. So, there is no better time to plan a trip to the U.P and enjoy some excellent riding! And remember, when you are on the trails, Ride Smart, Ride Safe!!

We finally have snow and several members and non-members alike have expressed interest in trying another antique snowmobile relic ride and the date has been set. All riders will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Valentine's Day Saturday, February 14th for a 10:00 a.m. departure. The ride will start at the trailhead near the Chippewa Sno-Kats groomer Barn at the intersection of trail 113 and highway 69 in downtown Crystal Falls. There is room for trailers at this location. The ride will travel South to alpha where it will stop to display the machines near the Alpha brewery. Lunch and beverages can be purchased at the brewery. The return trip to Crystal Falls will begin at 3:00 p.m. Total travel distance is 20 miles. All are invited to attend, but please understand this is not a club sanctioned or Michigan DNR event.
