Winners may stop by my booth at the Gallup Flea Market 9am-2pm to pick up your plaques. Look for our blue bird banner under a white tent (usually in the middle). Otherwise plaques will be mailed out Monday.

I asked Chat GPT if being in the front of a parade is wise. Here is how it responded.

"Being placed at the front of a parade is not always the best choice, because lead units often miss the peak crowd energy, deal with unformed gaps, and face early fatigue.

Lower Crowds: Spectators are often still arriving, parking, or finding seats when the very front passes by.

Lack of Build-Up: The middle and end of a parade often benefit from an audience that is already excited and warmed up by previous groups.

Benefits of the Middle or End
Peak Energy: Crowds are fully gathered, loud, and engaged by the time middle or rear units arrive.
Better Flow: Marchers can follow the rhythm of the units ahead of them rather than guessing the speed.
Lasting Impression: End units leave a final memory for the crowd as the event concludes."

The online parade application is fixed and available.

Here are our current parade assignment numbers. An email will be sent either this afternoon or evening with information regarding line up. Numbers will be provided at check in beginning at 6 am. This does not indicate placement in line up. We've received numerous requests to be place at the front. A parade is just as good from the middle and end. So we will take it into consideration but understand a line is a line and how crowds respond is more about the energy you bring.

Eastern Navajo and the BIE are celebrating two incredible student artists! 🎉

Mila of Mariano Lake Chapter and Ibnijah from Alamo Chapter were selected as national winners in the American Heroes Student Art Contest. This contest celebrated America’s 250th anniversary. Both pieces are on display at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall.

Both artists were recognized in an award ceremony on July 8 in Washington, D.C.
