Lake County Master Gardeners Lake County Master Gardeners trains gardening enthusiasts as volunteers to assist Purdue Extension with home horticulture education in Indiana communities.

Purdue Extension Master Gardeners are "Helping Others Grow!" The purposes of Lake County Master Gardeners Association are exclusively charitable, educational and scientific and its principal objective is "HELPING OTHERS GROW" by promoting the art, science and pleasure of gardening in Northwest Indiana in cooperation with the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service (CES) of Lake County, Indiana.

On Sept. 17 at 5:30 Purdue Extension Educator Rebecca Koetz will lead us on a guided outdoor exploration of native trees at Robinson Lake in Hobart.

Join us to learn how to identify common native trees, discover the important role they play in supporting wildlife and pollinators, and gain practical tips for selecting native trees for your own landscape.

Whether you’re a gardener, nature enthusiast, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, you’ll leave with a greater appreciation for Indiana’s beautiful native trees.

Today at the Lake County Fair our master gardeners are demonstrating how to grow potatoes in a bag and how to plant a container herb garden.

We also have activities, games and plants galore! Bring your gardening questions too.

On Aug. 13 from 2-4 p.m. master gardeners will demonstrate how to created a pollinator garden in a container.
