Oral cancer is a pressing and very real health issue. In 2024, nearly 58,500 Americans were diagnosed with oral or oropharyngeal cancer. As dental professionals, we witness the profound impact of this disease every day in our practices.

Today, some walked in memory of loved ones, while others walked as survivors—each step a testament to strength and resilience. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated today. Your support is invaluable.

For the past eight years, the Northwest Indiana Dental Society (NIDS) has proudly hosted a 5K Run/2K Walk for Oral Cancer Awareness to educate the public, honor those affected, and raise critical funds in the fight against this often-overlooked disease. Oral cancer can be life-threatening if not detected early, and this event serves as a powerful platform to shine a light on the importance of regular screenings, early diagnosis, and continued research.

By engaging our community in a meaningful and active way, NIDS brings together dental professionals, patients, survivors, families, and local residents to unite for a shared cause. The proceeds raised through sponsorships, donations, and participant support directly benefit The Oral Cancer Foundation.

Beyond fundraising, the event fosters a spirit of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility—strengthening not only awareness but also NIDS role as a trusted health advocate and community leader in Northwest Indiana.

The NIDS Oral Cancer Awareness 5K Run/2K Walk is on Saturday September 20, 2025. It includes the following events: 8th Annual NIDS 5K Run for Oral Cancer Awareness and 8th Annual NIDS 2K Walk for Oral Cancer Awareness.

Northwest Indiana Dental Society's Pampered Chef Party, in Memory of Nancy Wolff, Hosted By: Daniel Wolff

NIDS is honored to join Daniel Wolff in remembering his mother, Nancy, and celebrating her life, strength, and dedication to raising awareness about oral cancer. Nancy courageously fought this disease for more than six years and never stopped advocating for education and early detection.

Through this Pampered Chef fundraiser, Daniel hopes to continue his mother’s mission and make a lasting impact in the fight against oral cancer. From now until the end of August, anyone with the shopping link can participate. A minimum of 20% of all sales will be donated directly to NIDS, and once party sales reach $650, the donation will increase to 30%.

Together, we can honor Nancy’s legacy and help bring awareness, hope, and support to those affected by oral cancer.
