We can’t say enough incredible things about the people at Hoosier Burn Camp. In their 28th Summer Camp for young burn survivors, today was activity day and several Da Region F.O.O.L.S. members rode down to take part in the festivities. Locally here, an incredible effort is organized and made possible every year by the fabulous people of 1-800-BoardUp NW Indiana, in honor of the late great Jack Eskridge.

Area departments make donations or host boot drives to support the incredible children and the mission of HBC. At our core, the FOOLS International and local chapters exist to not only preserve the traditions of the fire service, but to take care of brother and sister firefighters, and to be involved with fundraisers, charity, and helping disadvantaged children.

This year, we were able to donate $1,000 to the future of Hoosier Burn Camp and its kids! This is a direct reflection of the support you’ve given us in establishing ourselves as an incredible local F.O.O.L.S. chapter! To learn more and donate if you should feel inclined, visit hoosierburncamp.org.

🏁Chop Shop R/X 2026 is Finished🏁

It was a solid two days of brotherhood, knowledge, and chopping it up! Firefighters from Crown Point, Dyer, Kouts, Lake Hills, Lake of the Four Seasons, Merrillville, Munster, and Porter showed up and went to work! Cody Chayhitz from Citizens First and Martin Price from Impact Rescue were also on hand to showcase their tools for the weekend - thanks gentlemen!

We want to thank all our food sponsors, Crown Point High School, Crown Point / Merrillville Fire for the training site, our training committee and especially Chop Shop Instructor Randy Wells - a solid brother with some solid knowledge!! Treasurer John Jarka also made some custom Da Region F.O.O.L.S. step chocks and FF Emily Keilman from Lake Hills Fire won them for her department!

All in all, we think it was a solid weekend. We’ve heard some great feedback and we’re incredibly excited for what the future holds for some more training from your FOOLS! Stay tuned for what’s next and as always thank you for your support!

🚨Chop Shop Update🚨

These men and women chose to spend their Sunday chopping up cars in the heat! Crews started at 8:00am, and just recently broke for lunch.

A special thanks to Bri at Dutch Bros Coffee Crown Point for this mornings coffee, as well as Todd Wilkening and Fire Service Inc for supplying today’s lunch.

Attending Chop Shop R/X tomorrow?

Saturday morning we begin at Crown Point High School's Community Room. Sign in and breakfast is at 7:30am, with training starting at 8:00am. Lunch will be provided (Sponsored by MES) prior to hands on training at 1p-5p at CPFD's Training Site, 10001 Merrillville Road. ALL DAY Sunday H.O.T. from 8:30-4:30 will be at the CPFD Training Site, with lunch provided (Sponsored by Fire Service).

A special thank you to MES, Fire Service, Crown Point High School, Citizens First, and Midnight Blue who will have 8 or more vehicles for participants to use. Reps will also be present from Amkus and Holmatro with tools to use for the duration. Please sure attendees bring all necessary PPE for hands on training evolutions.

We still have a few spots left, as well as many open spots for the classroom session on Saturday. We look forward to seeing you and training together!

Today, we celebrate another Da Region F.O.O.L.S. birthday for Founding Father Michael Luczak! Brother Luczak has been a huge part of our success from the start, overseeing and coordinating merchandise with his team of creative brothers!!!

In the fire service, Captain Luczak is a large believer of preserving the aggressive fire tactics of the fire service. He leads and mentors his men with the same tenacity, regardless of medical runs or two alarm fires. He lives by the quote “you can talk about it or be about it, the choice is yours.”

Personally, there is nothing he wouldn’t do for his wife Heather and their two daughters. The memory of their son Wyatt lives on daily with fire trucks and helmets adorned with his name, along with a tribute in our first logo. There’s nothing he loves more than ripping Taylor’s Tins Shiny Cardboard packs with the kids and chasing that next holo!

We’re forever grateful that men like Brother Luczak choose to be apart of us!Join me in wishing him a Happy Birthday!
